I took the Spyder out today, and the same noise is there that started on the first mile I rode it. The engine, I believe, has a generalized loud sound, but now with a thousand miles on it, there is a contiuned slight "clattering or hammering noise" that even if it doesn't hurt the engine, I don't like it. In some ways it reminds me of an old Hillman, English car I had---it started hammering then blew a rod. Obviously the Spyder sounds are not that bad----just more than I'd like. My engine in my old Honda ST 1100 was commonly noisey, so I dropped a quart of Hyper-Lube in it, and the noise stopped to never return. I wonder if Hyper-Lube would hurt the Spyder??? What do you think??
