I wonder if it would be possible to relocate the radiator on a 2013 RT up front, like they have done with the 2014s.
The 2014s should let a lot more air in through the lower front. I hope they have a way to let it pass through in places other than on the riders feet, and solve the overheating problem of the 2013s.
From the looks of the redesign of the front end of the RT there is more open area toward the middle, so an up front radiator makes sense. The 2013s don't have that much air intake as the 2014s as I see it. The 2014s should let a lot more air in through the lower front. I hope they have a way to let it pass through in places other than on the riders feet, and solve the overheating problem of the 2013s.
While the radiators' doubling and relocation has gotten a lot of attention (rightfully so), I'm thinking as much of the heat management improvement may also be that the exhaust appears to be routed down the front and then below the engine, thus NOT having it run through the body like it was previously. They're not trapping the exhaust heat under the panels.
I Believe that I heard a BRP design engineer say that structural changes were necessary to accomodate the new engine and those changes were made in 2013 on the RT, not so on the others so they were not ready to accept the new engine....While at my dealers today, he stated that the new engine et al, does not generate a great amount of heat :dontknow: if i understood him correctly. he was curious as to why brp only put the engine in the rt.
i hate to say this but i think that all of us that have heat issues,( and i don't understand why some bikes do and some don't ), are just stuck with our bikes because to change the bike around to make it like a 14 would not be cost effective, by the time BRP comes out with a fix,( if they ever do), it will be more than a year and most of us would of most likely sold out bikes. i personally am thinking of taking a loss and buying a new one. i know i am nuts doing this but if i want to continue to ride and not worry about burns on my right foot it is my only option right now. with the season coming to a end for some bike riders with the cold weather, sales are down and selling right now would be pocket suicide. so i will let BRP run their test's and see what they come up with. i have put money into the bike making it the way i want and i will see what happens next. :banghead:
