• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT runs horrible at RPM'S of 5500+

Well after all my other issues here's a new one, bike starts skipping, bucking, missing, just runs like crap if I try to get it up to speed, slow roll and I mean slow roll on the throttle is all I can do. Absolutely no power on hills in any gear and the lovely vibration comes alive once again. I ordered new plugs and wires from FYREDAD today, this can only help I hope, any other ideas out there???? It's done this since new when I would try to open it up but today was horrible.

this may seem far fetched but you may be low on oil add a 1/2 a quart or so

Sounds like a bad plug wire. If the plugs and wires don't do the job, the coil cold be bad, or less likely the ECM. There are other possibilities, too. It takes some good old fashioned troubleshooting to resolve some of these things. The diagnostics often only show the results, not the causes.

Check before doing

Be sure to check the oil level before just doing it! Sounds like you have one or more ignition components going south on you. A BUDS system check is in order too...

Air inlet gasket...?...dodgy vacuum line...?

Vacuum leaks generally affect idle performance more than high rpm performance. After plug wires and otgher ignition issues, a plugged air filter or plugged fuel filter would be good places to look. No sense in guessing wildly, though. Careful troubleshooting is the proper approach.

Of course the key to successful troubleshooting is finding a dealership that knows what they are doing and is committed to the Spyder - sometimes a harder task than the troubleshooting itself. Once you find a great dealership then you may find yourself ryding more and having fewer reasons to ask questions here.. good luck

that just happened to mine i checked the battery and it was loose and croaded,i cleaned it with a wire brush and put new aircraft bolts to hold it on tight and runs like nas car agin so thats all i got try it you might love it.:chat:

If i keep having problems i'll sell the bike for the 15 cents and pass on my blood pressure from my troubles to the next owner :gaah:. Bike does idle from 1300 to 1500 not steady, oil level is fine, while in neutral i can rev it up to 9000 RPMs it's only under load it won't break the 5500 mark. i checked all the ground connections and tightened them just in case, battery terminals are good but going over them again today, checked all connections, plugs wires are not leaking as i can see and plugs look ok but there getting replaced later this week, and no codes. I'd go to my dealer but warranty ran out and at this time $$ is an issue. Wish i could get my hands on the BUDS software and do my own work. Thanks for the ideas i'll figure it out sooner or later :banghead:

Well I took the plugs back out and did another inspection, the front cylinder white/light brown, rear cylinder was black and a slight smell of gas..so looking around on the forums I decided to plug the purge valve from the canister, took if for a spin and she flies, powers back and smooth as silk. More testing and crossing fingers that this was the problem.

Your back cylinder is misfiring. You may have had purge valve problems, but they are not your only difficulty. Replace the plug with a new one, and replace the plug wires, preferably with a performance set from BajaRon. If that is insufficient, the coil is suspect. Your problems are sure to return if you don't adress your ignition problem. A leaky purge valve will cause rough running, but it will not foul a plug.

Wires and plugs on the way, i do have a question, can i leave the vent hose and canister as is now, or should i remove the canister and just vent the tank out the front of the bike?

If you have disconnected the canister or the purge valve from the throttle body/intake manifold, I would recommend adding a new vent line to atmosphere where the existing one was removed. It needn't run to the back...out the splash pan at the bottom is sufficient.
