• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How To Replace Snapped Atenna

So I bought the $10 antenna from Walmart, how do I get the other one out (does the brass piece screw out somehow). I snapped it right at the bottom, putting my cover on, a first on the forum I am sure, :gaah:

I believe will need to remove the speaker box to get at it all. To do that you need to remove the tupperware wrap that is just under the trunk and around the trunk(s) release handles. 8 screws hold that on. 3 screws inside the trunk hold on the speaker box.

You can take the rubber boot off and it is a millimeter base. It is hard to brake free because it has blue lock tight on it. Be carfull not to damage the tuber ware.

:agree:

just remove the rubber boot, get a pair of good needle nose pliers and unscrew the old antenna, install the new antenna, put the rubber boot back on

easy peasy

I Shoild Have Known As Soon As Someone Said Easy Peasy, It Would Not Be For Me.

I'm having the same problem, I'm afraid I will break it. Going to try again. Good luck. Let us know if you get it off that way or go through the speaker box.

I am going to try the deep socket method as soon as I go buy the right size, I have very few deep sockets. I will let you know, cant get any worse as I already caught the edge and marked the Spyder. No the boot came right off, of course I dropped that behind my work bench to make matters worse.

as others have mentioned, when the antenna was installed by BRP, they used Yellow loctite so its going to take a bit of torque to loosen up - dont be afraid....

Thanks everyone, I was finally able to get it off with a 7 mm deep socket. Still am pissed I nicked the edge and a small spot (shows with the boot on) grrr. I used the Walmart one for now, but will upgrade the chrome shorty soon. I love this forum and can not wait to be able to help others some day, though it seems like there is no shortage of good people here. Thanks,
