• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Future Spyder Tires?

Interesting concept for a new type of tire. Not an expert, so I am going to watch the other comments.

Too many questions..!!

too few answers..how long do they last (mileage), is there any kind of pressure settings, how much will they cost, do they bolt on to your existing rims if not what bolt patterns will they have....nonetheless interesting..!!:popcorn:

Think he said they'll fit any rim currently in use. The 'pressure setting' would most likely be a pre tension setting accomplished when mounting to the rims. Mileage, if memory serves me they equal or surpass current tire technology. Cost......that's the sticker unless or until they caught on. Like everything else in life.

That report was a bit heavy on the sizzle, and light on the steak...
We'll need a lot of details before any intelligent discussion can commence...

I noticed they didn't show it going over a bump that exceeded the 'suspension' buffers. Once that limit is reached it looks like you'd get hard contact between the outer and inner rim's. If you bent that outer rim that would be the end of it's life span.

:agree: It would probably bust a bunch of them, and fail in a catastrophic manner... :yikes:

Jer,
Thanks for that link!

It still has rubber on it so why would they say it does not wear out? I would imagine that rubber would need to be replaced at some point.

I don't think we will see this in production for a long while. Just the safety testing alone could take years.

Well if Polaris is working on it; they're a pretty cool Company that lies to think outside of the box...
They resurrected the Indian Brand, and are also working on a reverse-trike for the street...

Okay, You got my interest. I know about the Indian's (you should check out the ads in the current issues of Rider--very subtle, and very interesting). They are going after the HD crowd.

Now--tell us what you know about the reverse-trike for the street--if you would.

SoCar

here in Greenville, SC is a MICHELIN DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT center for future tires... they currently have a number of these tires, called the 'tweel' in the TEST phase... we see them on the streets of G'ville sometimes... odd as they are, this just may be the future of tires... we also have a BMW manufacturing center here that produces the B'mer sports car Z4 and some of the SUV's models.... Michelin & BMW must have some agreement between their two companies, b'kuz the only time i've ever seen the 'tweel' is on a B'mer....

Thanks for providing the information. It does look like a viable vehicle, and I like the fact that it is from a tried and true manufacturer.

I don't like the side by side concept, or the fact that it has a steering wheel. To me, this is not going to be enough like our spyder to cause me to be interested. It would be some real competition for the Elio, were it to come out though--IMO. Price point will also be interesting to know.
