Another chapter in my travel log has got an ending. It was a wonderful trip..starting from home with the temp at 28' on April 15 and ending with 85' degree when I rode back in on Friday, June 7. The ryding is always the BESTEST part for me...a very close second bestest is the awesome people that come into my life .. Spyderlovers top that list..Our awesome country and her history. The beauty that nature creates from the powdered sand of Destin to the Arches in Utah and the Mountains and streams in Montana and everything in between.
Ms Spyder has been having a few issues that create a hiccup but the challenge is there and I'm making a game plan. First I had called ahead and scheduled a service at my dealer in Spokane..only to discover that I was the very last Spyder that my tech was working on...the business has closed and he has moved on to a new career. Now was I overjoyed at having to find a new competent tech? NO way...but I know from here that the tech is key to a happy Spyder and a happy Spyder makes this ryder very happy. A dealership in CDA, ID has taken on the Spyder..now even though it would put me another hour from home..my kids live there so I'm thinking..hmmm let's check Specialty out. They may be good or even great but when I did my interview I came away thinking :yikes: (are you kidding me???). I mentioned that Bruce had basically patched her and she was good for another 2-5k miles before a meltdown occurs. And I would like to get in for diagnosis...etc. His answer was I can schedule you for June 27 but you will need to leave machine for at least a week!!!! That's when I said thank you very much for your time. And my brain was saying to self....run, run, run...Bruce, my how dare he change careers tech..had shared that Speciality really worked hard to hire him but he wanted to do something new..he did mention one dealer to stay totally away from and one that I should check out. I asked him what he based his recommendations on: He said how they assemble the Spyder out of the crate. He had gotten several machines from both dealers..dealer NO he said they had to literally rebuild 3 machines...Dealer YES he said there work was flawless. So I did not waste a phone call on Dealer NO...but called dealer YES and we talked for over an hour...he said wow that is a long way to ryde for service...I responded only 15 miles further than what I have been doing for 3 years (4+ hrs each way)...but my ryde to Spokane was over backroads and wheat country. Now my ryde to Enumclaw will be freeway..city traffic and 2 mountain passes. I told him we will have to get a schedule because those passes are not Spyder ready from end Sept to Mid May. Bottom line I will ryde over next Friday...he said he wanted his Spyder guru on Ms Spyder...being me I was very straight forward and said here is what I am like to deal with...when I got to the line of don't even think about screwing me without a kiss...he about choked to death and said lady I already got that figured out. I shared I was sooooo not mechanical that they could pull stuff on me and I would gladly hand the plastic but I would eventually know the truth. Told him the truth will always win out...good work gets lots of mileage...poor work gets more mileage!!!
So looks like a trip to high traffic area is going to become a must do...one of those things in life..not what I wanted...but what I am willing to do...dang just hate that stuff I can't control!!!!Now isn't that a laugh...I am willing to drive Ms Spyder down 6th Ave New York City and have an adrenalin rush...then I start whining cause I gotta drive over 2 beautiful mountain passes and then ... oh well whine, whine, whine...
hyea:
Bob D asked how long before my throttle hand would start to twitch...well took a couple hours to debug her...but that was it...I never drive my truck when I can take Ms Spyder..next longer trip will be a first time group ryde that has been organized for the 21st and 22nd...then on July 5 I leave for 10 days down the WA, OR, CA coast..yep gotta flex those throttle muscles!!!
