• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

that i learned this past week. an RSS is governed at 146 miles an hour.if it didn't have the governor it would do 160 or 180 something.:roflblack: this was from a new spyder owner that was at our local QS bike night. i said, i don't think so. doc did 123 ? on the salt flats, with a turbo.
second guy was today. he asked me, '' is that an automatic?'' , i said, what? he said , '' is that an automatic ?'' i said, no, it's a five speed with a clutch, but most spyders do have an auto clutch.'' he said his buddy told him that his spyder had a fully automatic transmission:roflblack:. i said, no, auto clutch only. this was from a biker. it seems there is a whole lot of bad information flying around out there.:gaah: i just try to set'em straight as nicely as i can.

These are great 'Facts' but there are so many more. Like;

'The Spyder is so twitchy it is uncontrollable and dangerous'
'The Spyder will do 200 mph'
'The Spyder will flip over easily'
'The Spyder is only for women (or men that can't ride 2 wheels anymore)'
'The Spyder is just a passing fad'
'If you want to ride a real bike... Get something with a V-Twin engine' (my personal favorite)
'The Spyder can't keep up with 2 wheelers in the twisties'
'A standard trike is more stable than the Spyder'

I'm sure I've left out quite a few but I'll leave that to others.

I have had to deal with the two highlighted in red on another motorcycle site I belong to.

A guy with too much testosterone in his system shorting-out his brain synapses was my guess.

A friend of mine, who is an extremely experienced and talented motorcyclist stepped-in and confirmed, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Spyders have a V-Twin and can more than handle twisties. The original poster disappeared after his comment, because he knew who this guy was and could not have a come-back.

I had to laugh, and was pleased to see I didn't have to make any statement.

As always, you must remember the cardinal rule. 'Anything is possible if you have no idea what you're talking about'. It's very entertaining to listen to someone overflowing with a lack of information.... :ohyea: I think the Spyder tends to generate speculation which then turns into fact somehow.

My responses

'The Spyder will do 200 mph'
-it was made in Canada...that's kilometers, jackass...

'The Spyder will flip over easily'
-it has programs to counter that, and its 3 wheels. And if you think its so easy, take my Spyder out and try it.

'The Spyder is only for women (or men that can't ride 2 wheels anymore)'
-I'm neither I chose the Spyder cause I just like it. I used to tell people, jokingly, I don't trust my balance walking let alone on 2 wheels. And I will never have to worry about dropping it and having to deal with those repairs.

'The Spyder can't keep up with 2 wheelers in the twisties'
-I have personally debunked this on a dealer run by going with the 'More Spirited' group never falling below 6th in a group of 14 sport bikes.

'A standard trike is more stable than the Spyder'
-why do you think off road trikes were outlawed?

People who haven't a clue

People like that are why I keep some stickers that read,Stupidity is not a criminal offense, you are free to go. Kind of like the "Here's your sign" gag.:roflblack:

I'm not the brightest crayon in the box but I do know when to keep my mouth shut! There are some dull colored crayons out there! :gaah:

Here are some more stupid things I have heard in parking lots about my RT

"If you hit the brakes too hard the rear end will flip up over and crush you!"

"It has a Rotary engine from a Mazda". (I wish! imagine the HP!)

"They cost around $35-40,000" (Must have meant a Goldwing.)

And my all time favorite!

"They are very dangerous to ride" (and then in the same breath) "Hey honey, I think you could ride one of these" ( cheap divorce?)

That made me think of the Chrysler Divorce skit on SNL many many years ago!!! Drivers side had air bags, passenger side did not!!!
:yikes:
