• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why can't you understand this??

i tried to get the thingamajig to work on the other side but it keeps saying the same thing..............whats wrong with it.............is it defective..... my brother used to have one that was different but it usually worked most of the time. Oh by the way it is the green one. :hun: :dontknow:

Can anybody help me with this? ;)

Laugh and make a joke out of this, but some times i read a question from someone on here and it makes about as much sense as this does. Think about your problem and give us enough info and some of these really smart guys and Gals on here can talk you through most problems. Have a great day and lets get ready for Spyderfest, the new adventure

Thanks to all the very helpful folks on here that help people every day no matter how bad the question is worded.

Have to agree..!!

:agree: Answers and solutions would come allot quicker if more questions are not needed. Take your time re-read your question...I do..!!

:roflblack: The bane of all mechanics...the customer that comes in and says simply, "It doesn't work!"

I try to be patient with this, but sometimes it is hard, so I do agree with the advice. have a similar pet peeve, brought on by texting...lack of punctuation, good grammar, or decent spelling. Sometimes these posts can be like reading a foreign language!

I understand the 40 questions that have to be asked when people ask for help. I provide customer service for biological issues at wastewater plants. The plant won't run right. :dontknow: OK, now I start the 40 questions and you can't trust the information they do provide. I love the emails asking for help and they don't even tell me what plant they are at. :gaah:

:roflblack: But seriously... There's an awful lot of us out there (or in here!), who aren't as mechanically astute as we'd like to be... :opps: It can be tough to figure out exactly how to explain what's not functioning correctly. Add to that the fun of typing, and it's amazing how garbled-up we can make things sound!

A good place to start is not to try to interpret things. Tell us what spyder you have, any mods or service you may have done just prior to the failure, exactly what it is doing (or not doing), and when it was doing it (in corners, after a cold start, in hot weather, etc.). There may be more information we need, but we can ask for fault codes, what kind of mods, terrain you were riding, and so on.

Some people are not experts at explaining technical things in type, Like youse guys.
Have pay-shuns , Besides half the fun of Helping someone is deciphering what the problem is..
What Else do you have to do with your valuable computer time :roflblack:
Just saying.''

"I think my shocks are wrong! This thing handles like :cus:! I hadn't had more than a six-pack or two and it almost threw me right over that guardrail!" I'm calling my lawyer and suing under the tangerine law!:gaah:" "It's what; LEMONS?" "Are you sure?"

More info

Putting your location in your profile would be helpful. If you are buying or selling something it would be nice to know if you live in US, Canada, Europe or Australia.

Putting the details about your Spyder in your signature would be helpful in diagnosing a problem you may be asking about.

When responding to someone's problem think about your reply. Check your oil may not be a helpful reply to a turn signal issue.:joke:

I agree. Sometimes it's easy for more experienced folks to expect that others are at or close to that level. When we got the Spyder, it was the first "motorcycle" for us. I had no idea what everything was called, or what it did, or where to find it...

How about the no information question?

Most of us semi-technical types with a varied background in electronics, automotive ,mechanical, service, military background need who, what, when, what it does now plus make, model an year information

Problem solving is a multi step process, and sometimes the less technical person just doesn't know where to start; other than "well.. it's broken".

Without the proper information the problem solver just guesses or assumes a solution. Add to that most of us are trying to help from the end of a keyboard and not looking at the Spyder, and you make the likelihood of a correct diagnosis less probable.

So like a good doctor, you have to ask the right questions to direct you to the cause and confirm the problem, before you can offer the correct solution. It's being part doctor, detective, help desk, and mechanic.

And then sometimes, all it takes is a wack with a big hammer. ;)

This proves how talented, patient, understanding etc, etc, etc, our :spyder2: members. Life must go on.:roflblack:

Lets have fun and keep helping anybody who needs help. God Bless us All. Life is good.:yes::yes:

I respectfully disagree. "Why do you think it is broken?" Almost anybody can describe what it is doing that they think is wrtong or that they don't understand. Saying, "It goes clunk, clunk in the rear when I hit a bump," is far more helpful than merely "It's broken."

Better answers come from better questions. JMHO :roflblack: But, most of the time, the OP gets the help they need eventually.
