• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Parking Brake Problem, Maybe

I have a RTS SE5 and after backing it out of garage to warm up while I put my gear on, I put the parking brake on. An orange check engine screen came on for about 5 seconds then went to normal screen. Went to work and when pushing the parking brake button an orange parking brake screen came on. Had to push the parking button a couple of times before it engaged. Sat on it for a few more minutes disengaging and engaging the parking brake and light didn't come back and parking brake worked. Went to the archives and the only thing I could find was maybe the brake fluid needed to be added. So two questions, under the seat are two filler caps, do I add fluid to both? Or might there be something else going on. I have had Spyder out only two or three times during winter on short runs. Had it out once last week and now today. Thanks in advance!!;)

Sorry to hear of your issues with the parking brake.

RE: fluid container: I usually check and top off both filler areas if needed.

RE: parking brake: The mechanism can come off the roller. If it is engaging and releasing, your issue may be either fluids, a low battery charge, or loose battery cables.

Keep us posted. The real mechanics will come soon.

I had this happen to me last week. I have a 2011 RTS SE5. The Brake Failure indicator came on and fault code C1282 displayed :gaah: Bringing :spyder2: in to dealer tomorrow to investigate. They recommended adding a tsp of brake fluid into each each reservoir. Did that but the Brake Failure indicator is still flashing :banghead: Will follow up when I know more

Good luck!! Mine didn't throw any codes but think I will add the brake fluid and see what happens....keep us posted on your situation:(

That is brake failure...low pressure detected. It usually indicates a hydrualic problem. Be very careful on your ride in. The brakes could fail suddenly!

Made it to the dealership with no brake problems, except that flashing indicator:mad: I hope it's a quick fix:pray: AZ Bike week starts Friday:yes:

My RT showed the Brake Failure screen while I was on my way home after picking it up at the dealer. Checked the fluid,1/4" down, filled it and no more warning.:)

Gremlins??

Well, I rode it home last night...checked the brake fluid and it was so full almost overflowing, so that wasn't the problem. Never had an issue starting it up to leave work and releasing the parking brake nor when I got home and parked it in the garage. So, other thought is it was on a battery tender all winter, but last week when I rode one day I did not put it back on the tender???? or there are Spydee Gremlins:yikes::shocked:living in my garage!!! (dispatched by the Nanny when things are going too smooth)

Received the call from the dealership today. They hooked up the :spyder2: to BUDS and cleared fault code C1282 for Brake Failure. Checked all brake hoses, fluid levels and found nothing wrong. They took :spyder2: on 4 different rides and no brake failure indicators. Picking it up Friday afternoon  Lets hope this was just one of those :spyder2: gremlins. At least I won't be down during AZ Bike Week :ohyea:

I hoped they at least checked the brake pressure via BUDS. Simply clearing codes is not the answer.
