Hi y'all Im brand new to the forum and brand new to the Can Am Spyder. I have a 2009 Can Am Spyder RS that i have started to doing a few mods too and been in love with it since I got a couple weeks ago. One thing that was driving me nuts was the way the bike would sputter in the 3500-4500 rpm range I have read quite a few others with similar issues and I thought it might have something to do with the two brothers pipe that the old owners installed on the bike. Then i read about the Canisterectomy and thought WTH im gonna give it a shot. I went ahead and installed the fuel filter to keep anything out of the tank on and actually just pulled the lines of the canister off plugged the one after the purge solinoid and then put the filter and about 20-24" of fuel line on the line from the tank and ran it out of one of the holes under the bike behind the radiator. I didnt pull off the canister from the bike yet as I wanted to see if it made any difference with it bypassed first. Took me all of maybe 10 min at the very most and that includes looking at the posted pics, reading again, pulling off the body panel, bypassing running the fuel line and putting the panel back on. Took it for a spin and guess what NO MORE SPUTTERING!!!! you have no idea how happy i am that this was 1) fixed the issue 2) was super simple and super fast to do 3) cost me maybe $6 WOOT WOOT thank you to those that posted the info!
