• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Ouch... Oil leak

WTF... I had my bike in the garage for a couple of days. Now, after the ride to work. I walked out for a smoke and see an oil patch under my bike. Don't have time to find out where it's coming from, but just a quick look under the bike, it's dropped from the frame. I check the tank, oil plugs on the tanked and the transmission, no leak.

Hope I can make it home to have further investigation.

Damn...

The frame is simply the oils last stop before hitting the floor. If it is under the right side of center (sitting on the Spyder) I'd check your air box (right front corner). Otherwise, you'll just have to start looking vertically above where the oil is on the floor.

Like' Ron said check your air box, Run your hand under the bottom of the box right side,
There's a weep hole and could be coming from Blow by, :dontknow:
If it is it's a easy fix.

If it is, please give me an insight to fix it.

Thx,

Thx,

First make sure that is in fact the problem, Then if it is do a search.
The fixes range from a Rube Goldberg contraption, To sticking just a small piece of foam in the crankcase breather tube or even not over filling the oil tank.

:agree: make sure you have the recommended oil to avoid too much blow back witch goes up to your air box where vapors burn out but oil accumulates. Once engine compartment heats up oil thins a leaks out the weep hole ;)

+1 could be the breather housing driping oil from vent tube i fixed mine with the Kwel Metal filter kit no more drips.

I had some time to check up on it a little. There are oil trail on the casing, just right next to the starter. Probably loosen bolts on the casing. Anyhow, I'm heading to the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks all for your inputs,

Like I expected, the seals on the engine casing and water pump were broke. At least 5 parts are being ordered, they are all numbers and I couldn't remember one of them. Bringing the bike back this Saturday and will leave it there 3 days before I could pick it up.

Update on the oil leak

Got the bike back today. It was supposed to be ready last week. But one of the part they ordered was wrong and they didn't tell me which part.

Here are what they had to replace on mine:

1 ring-sealing
1 seal-oil
1 gasket
2 hose clamp
1 water pump shaft

Description of the work: LEAK WAS FROM AN OIL SEAL BEHIND THE WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE BETWEEN THE COOLANT AND THE MOTOR.

All was done under warranty.

I'm at 22k on mine. Thought I had some airbox oil despite my bypass mod for the engine breather oil, but found airbox to be dry. Looking back, it seems to be when I used my service plan and had the shop change it with Can-Am oil is when leaks would return. Really visible this time after the major tune-up, thought it was related to that. Had the pooling in the right pan, valve cover gasket, the front face of the engine and starter and water pump. It's gone now with this recent change, valve cover gaskets, right pan, etc...Can-Am oil must be thin stuff or have a very short life. I'll stick with the Mobil synthetic 10-40. Other sights in regards to Buell don't like the Harley oil for similar reasons. Harley oil may be made by Mobil(supposedly), but not at the same specs as the oil Mobil itself markets.
