There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. My own stupidity rarely ceases to amaze even me sometimes

So the last time (b4 the above visit) that I took Teddy to the Vet, they gave him a chewable beef flavored tablet called Comfortis, and said it should start killing the fleas within an hour and in a couple of days, he should be flea free. Well, for the most part, it worked like a charm & Teddy had almost completely stopped scratching and biting himself- YAY!!!

So my buddy called and asked if I could babysit for him til he got home from work, which I readily agreed, as we do this once every other week, due to his schedule. His cat (used to be mine b4 the fire) is the one that Teddy had originally got the fleas from, but he had told me that he took Skooter to the Vet & that they gave him something similar to the Comfortis that Teddy had been given. He also reassured me that every day since, he's been steam cleaning the carpets & washing all the bed clothes almost on a daily basis, so I felt their wasn't much of a risk taking Teddy back over.

BOY oh BOY, how wrong was I! My buddy had just gotten new carpet about 6 months ago, and it has a very thick pile, not shag mind you, but close. And even tho he's been vacuming & steaming, the effort was lost on Teddy. I was waiting for Madison to get off the bus, so we sat down on the leather living room couch & watched a little tv for about 20 minutes when all of a sudden, I see Teddy quickly reach around and start biting at his but like a MadDog. What the hell? Next thing I know, my arm is itching & I look down & see a friggen flea right there on my arm. ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS???

Just then, Madison pops in the door, & I grab Teddy & her & we all go to the deck to start on her homework, as their was NO WAY I was gonna stay inside. After her homework, we went for a long walk around the neighborhood while waiting for her dad to get home. I had sent him a Text about the issue, & he was upset, thinking he had them taken care of, but not yet.

That night & the next were horrible, as even tho the Comfortis will kill any fleas on Teddy, it only works after they have actually bitten him. He was biting & scratching so much, he has sore spots & balding hair & scabs even from before. So that's why I had to take him back to the vet last night. I'm so frustrated at my stupidity, I should have known better, but now cause I didn't, the poor little guy is suffering horribly. You can just touch him, and he's so sensitive that his entire body shivers. They gave him a shot last night that's suppose to help his sensitivity for about 10 days, but sadly, it wasn't cheap, as most things with the Vet isn't.

I started shaving him last night, but after about 10 minutes, he couldn't sit still, and we'd take a break for a few, then back at it. Got most of him done, and haven't been able to find a flea one, but with each bite, they inject their saliva into his skin, causing a long worded dermititus causing his sensitivity. The damage has once again been done & nothing we can do but make the best of it for now.

Once again, lesson learned, don't take chances with fleas. I'm just sorry Teddy has to pay the price for my ignorance.

Hydrocortisone 0.5% ?

I wonder if you couldn't put a dab of hydrocortisone onto his itchy spots to try to help give him a bit of relief? Might be worth asking your vet.

We have two Cornish Rex, brothers, and one of them has food allergies and when he gets something he shouldn't he'll lick and bite a spot(s) on his skin till it is raw. My vet told me to dab it on when needed and that along with his steroid pill helps to get it under control. Heck even after under control, still have to give him a half a Zyrtec every other day just to keep his allergies in check. Figures we'd have a cat that has allergies ... he and his human mom can share drugs.

Good luck; hope you get the little guy some relief soon.

Thanks for the suggestions

He's pretty out of it as it is with all these meds he's on, so I'll wait a bit & see how he's doing today before adding anything else. His body is mostly shaved now, but almost in a Lion Cut right, as it was 1am when we finally made it to his neck & head & I passed out on the couch before the alarm went off at 4:45 this morning for work:coffee: His scabs look like there healing well, if he can just leave them alone, & I think the shot & meds they gave for him will hopefully work for that. But I'll keep this in mind if not, and try it out. Thanks for the suggestion;)

Dave, I saw this new thread concerning parking brake maintenance & thought about you. You might want to take a look at this while you're doing everything else. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...-Lack-of-maintenance-I-didn-t-know-about-quot

Yup, I saw that & took note. Since I've got it all apart, I'm gonna do as much preventitive maintenance as I can. Thanks for pointing it out;)

Mod-Madness - Will it EVER END???

I have evil influences around me & I seem powerless against their ways.

Just throwing this out there to see what y'all think. Mind you now, I'm as broke as I've EVER been in my life, so the reality of me actually being able to do this, is about as good as me winning the lotto, but you never know.

OK, so I've already removed the complete Air-Box/Resonator and am replacing that entire set-up with the KewlMetal Air Intake, which I just opened up last night & got a thrill at its miniscule size and simplicity, compared to the stock mess its replacing. With this, I've decided to wrap the exhaust/header pipes to also help cool things down under the tupperware, and just maybe eek out a bit more power, albeit that would just be a happy side effect & not my main reason. I've got Lava Wrap sitting and waiting for me to complete this mod. However ..........

This bad influence I speak of came over last night, and we got to talking about also removing the Cat. After explaining my thoughts & reasonings with our local shop, the Service Manager said he couldn't see any real downside to removing said Cat & that it would most probably actually be benificial................. SO................

Now I'm looking for a local shop to make us a Y pipe to replace said heavy azz Cat. Looking at it with all the tupperware off, it looks to be an easy Mod actually. There's 2 spots where the pipes underneath hook into the Cat that could easily be undone, Cat removed & replaced with a simple 90 bent Y pipe. Thoughts or suggestions on this? And yes, I've read all the threads about this that others have posted, and said Bad Influence actually has Shultzi working on stuff for his Spyder, but as stated before, I'm broke & thinking a local shop might be able to do for alot cheaper than $450+ shipping. Am I dreaming here? Bad idea? Input?

MOD-MADNESS Continues On & On & On ...............

Here's another question for ya's that I didn't get to in the other Mod post. Like many of you, I really can't stand the grey color castings that are on the RTs, like the Windshield Bracket, Handlebars & Foot Peg Castings in particular. Again, this is one of those, if I could only win the lottery thoughts here. But I was thinking, how nice it would be, instead of wrapping the pipes with the Lava wrap, to get the pipes ceramic heat-coated. Then, that got me to thinking about safety and the grey castings & for some reason, the thought went from the ceramic coating to powder coating. Then it lead to, "What if I powder coated all the grey castings that I can't stand, a High Res Yellow Color" Wow, from the front and sides, that would sure make Teds Red Sled very noticeable:shocked: NO? The handlebars wouldn't really add much for the safety factor, but it would help tie it all in together so it didn't look too out of place.

Not to mention, the FLAME WRAP KIT Teddy Won at Lamonts Bar-B-Q from Pete at Power Sports Wraps is YELLOW & RED Flames, so we couldn't put it on the Spyder, as Red on Red just wouldn't work. So we've decided to put the wrap on Teddys Moto-Mate Camper, since its ALL White, the Red & Yellow Flames will show up really well. And if we had the castings on the Spyder a High Res Yellow, with it already being Red, I'm thinking it would all tie in really well together???

:dontknow:Thoughts, Pros, Cons, Reality Check:lecturef_smilie:Cheaper/Better Alternatives:dontknow:

Just to throw this out there. I wonder if Pete has looked at WRAPs for all the Gray stuff you are talking about?

You don't have a flea problem Dave............You and Teddy have been bitten by the mod tiki bug !!!!!!! :roflblack: Just to give you a ball figure when I had my footpeg brackets casting, handlebar cover, clutch lever, all three rims and rear sprocket powder coated, it came to $450.00

Just keep in mind if you start messing with the intake and Cat system, you might need a fuel modifier so don't be suprised if TRS starts running like poopy after you change out this stuff.

If I was "as broke as I have ever been in my life", I wouldn't be spending my money on mods. Put the Spyder back together and ride. It will be good for you and good for Teddy. JMHO

I know you can get engine paint in a rattle can. So, seems like powder coating would be overkill for these non-BLAZING HOT pieces.

more mods?

+ 1 , i'm with scotty on this. like randy said, if you screw with the exhaust, you might end up needing a management system which will be hundreds more. :banghead:

Thanks for the replies y'all

Thats the problem with addictions, their not something you can control and logic rarely wins out. Guess my thinking here is, that I hope to never have to have Teds Red Sled this torn down again, so while it is, might as well get everything done to it that I can. And you know the ole saying, 'Where there's a WILL there's a WAY'

Great pictures - Thanks for sharing

If the branch is longer than the doorway gap - Don't tell Teddy - If he keeps it in perhaps he won't work out how to get out the door
it will just keep getting stuck - There again I don't think it would takke Teddy long to figure a way round that problem

Hope the rebuild is going well - We all want to see you both back on the Spyder soon

Hey Roger, Teddy wants to know more .................. please

In another life I sold paint.
My Full Moon Silver RT had too many shades of silver/gray fror my liking.
I painted all of the gray castings (except handle bars) satin black, preparing them with an acetone cleaning and a self etching primer.

Seems I'm learning to do many things I've never done before, so why not add one more to the list:shocked:Painter:thumbup: Can you detail for us what exactly would be needed supply wise (Name Brands of chemicals, tools, etc-remember I'm totally a fish out of water here) if we were to try painting the gray metal castings ourselves:dontknow: And then, the prep work:hun: would they need to be sanded, or is that what the self etching primer is used for? Any info you can provide us on this would be greatly appreciated:bowdown:

What are the chances at 4:31am*I'm skip'n lunch today & buy'n a lotto ticket instead

We're having an 'Indian Summer' here in the Cincy area, and this morning, it was 64F degrees on the way in to work & I got to wear shorts again, albeit still caging it. But what are the odds, as I pull onto the on ramp from my exit and onto the I75/71 bridge from KY to Oh when I look in my rear view mirror to make sure it was ok to head over to the fast lane, when I spy a wierd light pattern fast approaching and here it is at 4:31 in the morning. Wait, that can't be what I think it is, can it? Two dim little side lights with 2 brighter lights, very close together inbetween. Sure enough, ZIP!!! A silver RS/GS Spyder goes wizzing by me on the bridge. I totally forgot I was in a cage, so the Spyder Ryder would have no clue that I'm a fellow Spyder Ryder as well, and one going thru SEVERE withdrawl too boot. I floor the gas pedal and quickly catch up to the RS and he promptly throws on his hazard lights, as if to warn me not to get to close to him, and that brought my attention back to reality that I was in a cage, and he saw me as a threat:opps: Opppps...... So I backed off a bit and got a nice treat to follow him much of the way to work, but he quickly rolled on the throttle, and best I tried to keep up, and within reason, safety & comfort level, I lost sight of him as he pulled off of I75 & headed West on I74 toward Indy. Got to admit tho, that brightened my morning right there and helped renew my gumption to get the garage completed (almost there) & Teds Red Sled back on the road so we can once again, enjoy the same;)

Dave, IMO you should not even try to paint those parts this time of year............. It is much to cold to attempt any kind of spray paint and have it adhere properly to the castings without the right enviorment. I would wait until the temps get back to the 80's.

IMO powder coat is way better than paint anyway. Paint might be fine for the handlebar cover but the castings for the footpegs will be taking alot of abuse from your boots and paint will not hold up. Just my .2 cents

Isn't that the way it goes?

Dave that happens to me all the time. I always see other Spyder ryders when driving in a cage, or your going one way and they're heading the other. I passed one Sunday on Hwy 66 near Tell City. It was going the other way.

Just a night out at the hardware store with Teddy & we learn so much

The other night, I geard the Tedster up & off we headed (in the cage) to our local Lowes Home Improvement store in search of some really cheap counter tops for finishing off our garage project so we can finally get started on all his Mods for his Spyder. Being broke, I knew we couldn't afford actual counter tops, but I still needed a hard flat surface for a useable work center. So I took the needed measurements of the racks that we're using and figured I'd go about seeking out the 'poor mans' counter tops, otherwise known as plywood by many. You may laugh, but it'll work just as well.

So as we're looking around, we get the usual ppl coming up & commenting on the Tedster, you know, with his bright red mowhawk & pom tail, not to mention his loving personality, he just draws the ppl in & he loves schmoozing with his fans.

Soon tho, we were approached by a mature woman pushing a cart, whom I wasn't sure exactly how to take. She was only a couple of feet away & was smiling widely at Teddy, but you could see a pained look of confusion upon her face. At first, she didn't say anything and just stared at him intently, and you could tell she was straining to make out what she was seeing. She then pensively held out her hand, and asked me if it was ok if she pet him, which I happily told her that she was welcome to do.

She then proceeded to ask what kind of dog Teddy was & if I could explain to her exactly what she was seeing? I was a little confused by her request, as I know ppl are a little taken aback by seeing a mostly black dog with a RED mowhawk & RED pom tail, but I mean, really, I was thinking to myself, is it that far fetched that you can't understand what your seeing?
:opps:Sometimes, I'm such an incensitive *ss that I amaze even myself:opps:

Mind you again, I didn't say the above, just thought it to myself. But I went ahead and explained to the lady how Teddy Rydes on a Viper Red Spyder, and its his byke, and that I'm just his chauffeur & that he's actually a long haired Pomeranian, but since he (usually) rydes daily, I have to keep his hair shaved or it becomes a rats nest & it hurts him every time I have to brush him, as I'd actually be pulling out part of his hair. And that since its his byke, & he's a 'Byker Dog' I had to help him look the part with having the matching Red mowhawk & Red Pom tail. As I explained all this in detail, the lady kept staring at Teddy as she was petting him & getting lick'ns from him & I could really tell she was struggling with understanding what she was looking at.

After I finally shut up the lady then began to talk & she thanked me for taking the time to explain what she was seeing. She then began to tell me, how she was there (at Lowes)
with a young friend that was helping her redo her house, cause the very day before, when she woke up, she was almost entirely blind:shocked: She explained how her vision was just fine all of her life, but when she awoke the day before, she couldn't hardly see anything, except bright colors & she could make out the outlines of things, but that was about it. My heart was in my throat, especially with what I had just been thinking to myself just a few minutes earlier, told ya, such an *ss:opps:

She said she could make out the outline of a small black dog, but the bright red patch really threw her off, and that's why she was so confused, as she really couldn't see what she was looking at:shocked: She went on to explain how her Dr. doesn't think her vision will get better, but probably worsen with time & that he suggested getting a seeing eye Service Dog, but she refused, cause she has 4 or 5 rescues at home that she knew she couldn't find another home for & that she couldn't have them & a Service Dog as well. She lamented how all of this happened all of a sudden, but that she had made up her mind that she'll be just fine and that she will adapt & make the best of her situation:bowdown:

I tell you, I was almost in tears at the bravery & determination that this lady has & talking with her helped me to realize just how much I take for granted on a daily basis. I mean, could you imagine going to bed fine & healthy, and then waking up in the morning to find yourself blind:yikes:

We probably spent over an hour talking & all the while, she was petting Teddy & let'n him lick her face all over & she loved it just as much as he did. I was just happy that we could bring a big smile & a little joy into the life of someone so strong & so deserving:bowdown::2thumbs:
