• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

When I have these kinds of issues in the steering I usually blame the mini bar... :joke:

Or could this be the sign that it's time to trade in that rare and valuable PE for Holly's RT???

UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really impressed with how fast this is getting addressed by both my dealer and BRP since I just dropped it off yesterday afternoon !!!!!!!! My dealer just called and said BRP wants them to replace the DPS since all above other suggestions looked good with a visual inspection. The DPS is ordered and it should be at my dealer mid next week.

BRP said just replace the DPS at no charge to me and they will cover all expenses. Keep in mind I have a 2008 (mfg warranty ended years ago),and do not have best warranty (I have a aftermarket one).

IMO...... BRP is technically not responsible for this since they already replaced it once for the recall over 10k miles ago. BRP could have easily said to go through my aftermarket warranty, but are not. They want the DPS sent back so they can take a closer look at it to find the cause.

We have heard stories before about how bad BRP is and I also have to admit I have been hard on them in the past for a few things, but this is not one of those times. I honestly feel BRP is stepping up and going above and beyond thier obligations on this one.

Good news that BRP is taking care of you  If replacement of the DPS is the cure and BRP wants the unit for examination. It would be nice to know what they find wrong....if anything. nojoke

As a new Spyder owner, I was thinking maybe I had made a bad decision when I started reading all the messages on this forum about how bad BRP responds to issues. It is comforting to hear you say BRP stepped up and is making things right for you.

OMG...You are right BRP has really really stepped up to the plate for you BIG time...very glad to here this and the fact that you and Holly lived thru the experience.....................Mike....

:agree:

Besides the warranty given by the manufacturer, there is a "codified implied warranty" which basically is an implied warranty of "fitness for a particular purpose". This warranty can extend outside the parameters of the manufacturer warranty. This GPS issue having been addressed by BRP for ALL spyders, suggests to me that they recongize this codified implied warranty. IMHO.

It's a good business for BRP to address this as a failure could be very bad both for the rider and the bikes safety perception. Also since you have a very very old and tired rare PE (just kidding Artufun) they will get valuble information on an old inservice DPS unit.

...and the aftermarket warranty will be charged, wright?
Anyhow, a big plus for BRP!

Did you have them check the seats??? There are probably creases in them. :roflblack: Glad that this is being taken care of.

Wow! That's quite an impressive response from BRP! Their urgency in jumping on this is understandable.:thumbup:
Good!

Grabbed your front fender struts and see if it moves back and forth and if so it's a good chance it's your a arm bushings.

I'm very glad everyone came out of this ok ( aside from being greatly shaken). The next question will be "how does BRP or Spyderlovers collectively solve and resolve this when the root cause is determined."

check front shocks, make sure one isnt weak and one ok this will cause a severe shimmy used to be a suspension tech and have seen this

Go BRP :2thumbs:, nice to see them step up to the plate. Not sure what I'm going to do over this winter going miss ridding. Anyone know what the biggest treadmill is and can it hold an RT?

:2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:Glad to hear some good thing about BRP on here. We all tell how bad things are, nice to hear something good........

Hmmmm Just the other day when I was riding home, I got this mahooosive juddering through the handlebars, it only lasted a couple of seconds and it wasn't tankslapping oscillations, however it was enough to leave mars bars in my knickers!

At first I thought it may be road surface but, it is a patch of road I ride at least twice a day, every day and it has never happened before.

I have also started experiencing the 'pre-DPS' mod steering sticking, so I think I'll be all over the dealership again next week.

Only had the DPS unit done in April...

BUGGER!
