• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replace with GS/RS ShopTalk and ST ShopTalk

There are things in the "ShopTalk" that pertain to all Spyders. I may chage this up a bit but we already have folks who don't know where to post now that I have a GS/RS board. Too many boards is not a good thing and there is no ST to need a shop talk for yet.

My vote goes to having a single consolidated ShopTalk forum. Yeah, there are differences between the bikes, but not THAT many, and besides-- everybody learns from everybody else.

Exactly. Why have the RT ShopTalk? Put every bike in the same pot (ShopTalk).

I totally disagree. There are countless differences between the RS and RT.

Then where is the RS ShopTalk section? And what is the new ST, chopped liver?

I didn't know you had a ST already !!!! Wow........ your really lucky to get get one so soon. :roflblack:

I forgot about that unnecessary section... :opps:
I agree; incorporate all of them into just one "Shop Talk" section.

nobody will use it anyway

people just post whatever wherever they want anyway.nojoke lamont should give out demerits:roflblack::thumbup:

not trying to be a jerk

all i'm saying is, the different forums are all there for a reason. when people post all willy nilly it just slows down responses to their thoughts or problems , and clutters things up.
i know you ''get '' it bob. you 're a crafty spyderlovers veteran.

The ShopTalk sections should be structured the exact same way as the new General, GS/RS, ST, and RT primary boards. That makes the most sense, is the most intuitive, and would be consistent across the site.

The way ShopTalk is right now is confusing to new members and often frustrating to existing members. Some people don't seem to know where to post. If you have an RT you can post in either ShopTalk section which is perplexing and aggravating. The RT people need to bounce between both boards, and the GS/RS people need to read around the RT posts in the general ShopTalk board. Who knows what the upcoming ST people will do.

I agree with Randy, there are now three distinct models which have distinct technical differences. It's even more vital that the ShopTalk boards are separate as they deal with specific technical issues, adjustments, techniques, and repairs. The way it is now if someone new to Spyders, for example, owns an RS and they read about an adjustment or fix pertaining to an RT, without knowing it was for an RT only, they can mess up their ride.

I understand the problem with separating the general ShopTalk board that contains posts pertaining to all Spyders, but if it's not addressed at some point the problem will continue forever.

Use the same structure for ShopTalk as for the primary boards:

Spyder General ShopTalk: This would contain the current "ShopTalk" board for grandfathering purposes but would now be focused on shop topics covering all three models such as lubrication, tools, batteries, cleaning, etc.

GS/RS ShopTalk: Focused on the GS/RS.

ST ShopTalk: Focused on the ST.

RT ShopTalk: Focused on the RT and containing the current RT ShopTalk board.

This would follow the exact same structure as the primary boards and thus would be consistent across the site. It also allows for seamless future expansion if BRP releases a new model such as the Hybrid Spyder. This is the ideal time to restructure the ShopTalk sections because of the new ST model line and because the primary boards were just restructured. It all falls perfectly into place.

Sorry, I'm with Lamont on this one. Too many categories means even more posts in the wrong spot. It would be helpful if everyone posted what he was riding or what the post was about, but that won't ever happen, either. I say make it as easy as possible for the administartor (within reason) and the rest of us will just have to try to sort our way through it. It is sometimes hard to remember where you are anyway, if you use "New Posts" to read the threads. That mixes them all up anyway.
