• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Trans Oil Filter FYI

The following is a email I got from BRP regarding the new transmission oil filter FYI.

Greetings Mr. Michiels, thank you for communicating with BRP.
You are absolutely correct. The filter and the filter cap do come as a kit and can not be purchased separately for now. The reason is that we want to make sure that every one has the necessary parts. This will not always be so and they will be available separately in the near future.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause,
Have a great day!

Why can’t I buy the new style transmission oil filter only? Why do I have to buy it as a kit with a new oil filter cap? I already have the cap for the new style filter installed and need another oil filter change. It seems silly to sell me something I don’t need.
Thank you
Ron Michiels

Because you are dealing with the same people that put the rear wheel air valve on the wrong side originally and refuse to move it.. :yikes: :roflblack:

Reasonable Questions

On the bright side. They answered your email.

Sent one four weeks ago asking for help with my 100 MPH :bbq: and am still waiting for an answer. :dontknow: nojoke

I purchased filters and O rings from my dealer in Virginia on Monday this week. Cost:
Filter-oil-F-4 $15.80
O Ring -F-4. $ 9.50
O Ring-H-17. $ 6.30
Filter Cover Kit (SE5)-F-4-3. $9.50

I realize they are not charging me for the cap, but I dislike waste. I now have an extra cap that frugal me will not throw out right away because I may need it. It will be moved every 6 months when I clean and tidy up the shelves in my garage. In 10 or 15 years I will throw it out. If I find that I do need it before then, I am certain that I will not find it and have to buy a new one.

So your complaint is they didn't charge you for the cap and gave you a free one. I understand now

:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: You must work out of my garage!!! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I would find it in 5 years, and wonder what it is... then keep it because I must of held on to it this long for a reason...

Save 'em up, and when you get a bucket full, sell them at the scrap yard. Or you could polish them, plant flowers in them, and give them as gifts to your Spyder friends at Christmas. :roflblack:

When I purchased mine, they encouraged me to get more than 1 since it was such a great price AND included the cap. I asked him why I would need more than 1 cap and he said consider it a freebie and throw it away! He shamed me into purchasing two. It certainly seems wasteful to me.

I bought two of the kits even tho I didn't need the extra caps; however, in the kit you get a free O ring which I don't think you normally get when only the filter is sold. Buy a bunch and save some money!:ohyea:

Seriously, I hate to waste BRP's money.

Save them up, wire them together, put a strap on them and wear as a hat!

Or, you could throw them away.

Or maybe ship them to BajaRon... There may be folks out there that stockpiled the old filters, and won't buy till they need more. By then, the covers may not be available in kits...

Might be a nice way to pay it forward... and dump your extra covers...:joke:

I just got a new barn and it's twice the size of my old one, So while i was emptying out the old one, My Sons who were helping me talked me into 86ing all my 40 years of treasures, Out went boxes of my cut spark plugs and points and condensers caps, and engine parts and just about every nut , bolt, and scrap pieces left over from 40 years of making vehicles go faster. Now now when i go in the barn i miss not having all that stuff to trip over and reminisce about and move around., :(

Definition...

By definition, when you clean out the garage or workshop, what ever you throw away, will be needed the day after the trash men come!
