• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil Leak Returns

frank3

RT-S PE#0180
Had water pump seal replaced early this spring to correct an oil leak. Now have the same oil leak PLUS a leaking rear valve cover gasket. Dealer is fixing both under my extended warranty. The extended warranty firm is also paying to have the front valve cover gasket replaced at the same time. 2010 RT-S (#180), has 30,000+ miles on it.

Ditto on the Water Pump Seals

Had water pump seal replaced early this spring to correct an oil leak. Now have the same oil leak

I had my water pump shaft seals replaced at 8K before I left for Alaska. Made the trip but it was leaking again when I got back -- the seals lasted 8K again. Three weeks in the shop the first time, two weeks this time. I got it back on Friday and have ridden it about three hundred miles yesterday and today and now I see the fatal oil plus anti freeze in the splash pan again, and oil drops on the bottom of the clutch housing. So this time the seals lasted less than 300 miles. Haven't confirmed that yet proof positive but it looks exactly like the last two times. Can't believe that with all these occurrences BRP hasn't come out with a new design and new part. The part numbers are still the same. Color me Frustrated.

The water pump is on the right side, With you sitting on the Spyder.

Correct. If you look in the right-side opening behind the radiator and down to the splash pan, mine always results in a ribbon of anti freeze and oil in the splash pan. You can see that without taking any body panels off. Just a dark garage and a flashlight.

The water pump is on the right side of the engine on the upper part of the clutch housing. The weep hole is behind the water pump and if the water seal and/or the oil seal are leaking, it will drip out the weep hole (very difficult to see and confirm) and seep down around the clutch housing, finally dripping on to the splash pan.

Oil leak follow up

RT-S #180 is at the dealer. Oil leaking from the water pump shaft AGAIN and rear valve cover gasket is leaking. My extended warranty is covering all of it AND also replacing the front valve cover gasket. Warranty is not BRP Best. RT has 30+ miles. Of course, it'll be close to 2 weeks till I get it back. I never saw any oil leak on garage floor from rt side , only on the lt side. BTW, my bottom pans have been removed for 2 years.
