• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WHEN are we going to get a SPYDER magazine

That would be interesting. But we are looking at thousands for start up costs. Would be interesting how many people would buy the magazine.

I would at least try a subscription out.

Magazine

Although a printed magazine has it's advantages, The cast of characters including, but not limited to, wrench turners, walking Spyder encyclopedias, humorists :roflblack:, pot stirers :gaah:, advertisers/sponsors , and teddy, on this web site, is all the magazine I need. But, as most would probably agree, more pictures would be nice. That said, if one should appear, I may have a look.

THat would b so cool , get sponsors. pics can am to spend the money to get it up, ect , I would buy it,

After a career in the publishing business, I have to tell you that the market just isn't big enough for this kind of publication. Pagination, printing, web site and distribution costs would eat you alive before you even began to consider the content costs and advertising sales expense.

For the enthusiast market, be it custom cars, hot rods, dirt bikes, baggers, etc. figure that about 2-3% would be interested enough to buy on a newstand or subscribe for a print or on-line product. That would mean that the universe to draw from would have to number two to three million people.

The Can Am universe just isn't that big. Can Am themselves may want to undertake such a deal but then they would just be preaching to the choir rather than expanding their market.

But what if...
BRP took its lists of buyers and offered to put out a "newsletter"? They already know where the interested folks are... :dontknow:
It might start out largely as a cheerleading section for the bike; perhaps it could ultimately be molded into something that reports all experiences.
Offer it up for just a couple of bucks a year for starters and see where it goes...
MANY years' ago, they offered up a magazine for Ski Doo owners: "Doo Say"... :2thumbs: (Maybe starting in about '67 or '68...)

I love the idea but I think the forum is far more informative than any magazine and the information and tips change daily. I personally think Teddy and Dave should have their own TV show. I don't think Bob and :cus::cus::cus: Will make it to publication. roflmao

The internet and online forums/newspapers are killing the newspapers,,,I don't think many would subscribe to a paperback type mag that would kill you in publishing costs and mailing...It's a great idea, but I think the forums have become the mainstay.

Agree, online is so much more timely and convenient. Even the magazines and books I get are electronic on my iPad or Nook.

But nothing beats taking a good periodical into the water closet for some uninterrrupted light reading...

You can take your laptop into the john to read, but you can't tear out a page to wipe with when you are done, like you could with the old Sears catalogs. :roflblack:

Sadly, magazines are almost extinct. But imagine instead a new and different media where thousands of enthusiasts from anywhere in the world could easily view information, reference articles, photos, ideas, and much more on a daily basis and then interactively discuss and exchange the information together. Where vendors with products made especially for them could promote and sell their goods directly and discuss them with their customers in the open. Where social groups could form, gather, and hold events. Where such mass amounts of detailed information was disseminated, freely shared, and archived. Where a single location became the greatest resource of information you could possibly hope for.

You're looking at it. Spyderlovers.com. The future is now.

These things have WEBCAMS????
What's that? :roflblack:
I think I saw a movie once, where a camera of some sort set off all sorts of a hullabaloo when it got pointed in the wrong direction... :roflblack:
