• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I want to share with other Spyder Owners that I just had the Performance Silencer by Hindle put on my bike! WOW! What a difference. I don't purr any more! Now there is a definate growl with a lot of get up and go! We rode to Orlando yesterday for Thanksgiving, and I really enjoyed the ride! Also have new grips. About a month ago, I had my bike pin striped all over. He also painted a butterfly on the back fender. Looks wonderful! :2thumbs:This weekend will be awesome riding weather in Central Florida, so I'm a gone!!!!! Anne Leilani:2excited:

Hindle question

Sorry to hijack your post, but I have a question about the Hindle Performance Silencer, and can not find my answer on this forum through searches.
When they say:
Not street legal
Disclaimer: This part is intended for closed-course racing applications only. Can-Am Spyder roadsters modified with the performance silencer are prohibited from usage on public roads, and can only be operated in closed-course competitions. Use of this component outside of closed-course competition events constitutes tampering under the US EPA and California Air Resource Board regulations and can lead to substantial fines and penalties.

are they serious? Is that something I really need to worry about? I'd like to buy one of these, but this makes me nervous.
Thanks for any information!

BRP covering their BUTT.

We've had our Hindle on for almost 2 years and have never had any problems with it (knock on wood). We rode in 20 states last year along the Eastern Seaboard and into Ohio/KY, as well as parts of Ontario and Quebec, without problems. We were told that there are parts of Canada where you can be fined for violating the noise ordinance, but we were never stopped for this. This year we rode in MO, OK, TX, NM, CO and WY without problems. (Well, not any due to the noise level, anyway).

When we took a motorcycle safety course the sheriff's deputy teaching the class said he didn't feel you could have a muffler that was too loud...if they HEAR you, they'll hopefully SEE you. That said, I would still have to confess to being nervous about getting a ticket for a noise violation. So far it hasn't been a problem. As other folks have said, BRP is covering their :cus: by putting the disclaimer in. Most Harleys seem to be WAY louder than we are.

Wow, I've never heard a butterfly growl, but then my hearing is starting to go.

We both had Hindle with baffle removed still wasn't loud enough to get a ticket, but ran even better than before removing the baffle. Now I just switched to a Super Trapp and am getting it adjusted. It's going to be better yet and only about $220 delivered.

I sure don't worry about it any....they gotta work through all those totally obnoxious Harley straight pipes first....by the time they get to us Hindle'd :ani29:'s they'll be deaf! :roflblack:

Wow, thread started in 2008 and just started getting replies in 2012. Hope she hasn't been waiting this long for replies.

Queen "B' has a Spyder1Attitude on her :ani29:. It has a louder growl than the Hindle we replaced. Just rode Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky with no problem from an LEO's.

Didn't notice that! :roflblack: She hasn't posted since Nov./ 2011 so maybe she finally gave up! :dontknow:

No, I just a few days ago took over someone's thread from 2008. I was searching for an answer to my questions and just piggy-backed on this thread rather than starting my own. Sorry, but thanks for all the info! It really helps!!
