• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

MORE HITCH

Well had the hitch installed yesterday, dealer gave me a very fair deal. But I have to get rid of that butt ugly mud flap or what ever it's called.

I understand! I haven't put the mudflap on either of mine. I installed nutserts on my 2011 hitch so I could put the mudflap on or remove it, but it has never seen the light of day. Yes, I have to clean more crud off the trailer, but you do with the gap between the mudflap and RT fender, anyway. A mudflap on the RT, ala Inspector Gadget and others, or a longer fender, like Lamont fabricated, is a better answer.

Someone has a thread going on how he could turn his RS into a lawnmower. My thought is you could replace the plastic mudflap with a spade and you could plow the fields with the RT trailer hitch! :roflblack:

My sentiments also!

:agree: I removed mine and it looks A LOT BETTER!! But now more elbow grease when I have to clean the trailer... oh well!:coffee:

Sorry to be different and I'm not trying to start an argument honest. But.....

I like the look of the mudflap on my RT, it seems to frame of the backend, otherwise there's a big gap there.

Also it keeps the front of my trailer a little cleaner.

just saying I like it, but then again I'm weird. :dontknow:

Good to meet another Weird person here, I thought I was the only one. I thought about removing the flap but after a cross country trip I think it is worth while to have on there. I did make an extension for the one on the spyder though, it really helps with the splatter on the back of the bike (wife's back as well). The trailer does catch a lot of highway chaff from the rear tire in spite of the hitch mud flap, i am sure it would have taken a beating without it.

Food for thought Regarding the hitch, I think you can remove the hitch quicker than taking off the flap. 5 minutes and the hitch is hanging on the wall, When I don't plan on using the trailer for a few weeks I remove the hitch. Spyder looks better without it anyway. I had never removed the hitch and had to do so to align the drive belt. After watching Lamonts video on belt alignment I learnt how easy it is to remove the hitch. One carter pin, one nut and one big long bolt, wiggle it and slide it off, flap and all.

I was planning on using the self-planing method but I noticed one of the pop rivets tore thru so today I removed 1 inch of it and re-revited the flap to the hitch. I sure love my Handy Lift so I do not have to bend over!!
