There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Bumb skip plate - Is it me or.....

I have a 2011 RT-S. I installed the Spyderpops bumb skid plate yesterday. Not too hard to do. We went for a ride today, only day IMHO cool enough to ride, and at one point I hit 70 MPH. It felt like my entire front end smoothed out and the bike felt stuck to the road. I had previously raised my stock shocks to 5 and that made a difference. But I felt another difference with the plate. Is it just me or did anyone else feel this. Another great product for the Spyder. I am saving for my Elka's probable at Spyderfest next year, can't wait. Thanks.

Yep

Not sure if the skid plate helped or not. I installed mine two weeks ago just before going to South Dakato for a week and I also adjusted my shocks to the 5 setting. Between those two things something made a huge difference. Interested to know if anyone else had a difference. The plate saved me a few times on the ride. Dips, Bumps and Debris.

The Bump/Skid plate looks great and it is functional too. Not necessarily a Must Have but a very good product and worth the money/effort without a doubt. Will certainly save wear and tear on our very low approach front end.

not sure why...but I'm getting 2 to 3 mpg better than I was before the skid plate...it looks great on the bike

It could be a placebo effect or it could be real. If the skid plate helps to smooth air flow under the chassis it might create enough of an improvement to feel the difference. I hope this is the case, it seems like a worthwhile modification.

I have a feeling that when I get mine, it's gonna balance my checkbook, re-wire the house, AND get me a date with a supermodel! :joke:

I really like this mod.. just installed it the other day. Looks sharp......but..... any perceived increase in MPG from this mod is purely placebo effect.... there's just no way it's going to increase MPG any noticeable amount. Handling.... pretty much the same deal--- but it could help a minor amount with the undercarriage winds....

My only problem is that there was no way the two outermost screws can be used... the ones way out on the 'wings' closest to the wheels... there's easily a 2" gap between the bump skid and the Spyder--- no way is the bump skid going to bend that much......

I'll post some pics to explain.....

The huge gap----the screws are not even long enough to fill the gap---- and I wouldn't trust trying to tighten them up enough to close that gap.

Can someone tell me why the skid plate for the RS is $20 more than the one for the RT? :gaah:

Thought that aswell when i put mine on. But it does bend preatty easy. Should be no problem i just pushed up with my impact driver as i put the screw in screw grabs and does the rest. It should mention the curved issue in the instructions i didnt see that if its there (might be did really read them :).

The skid plate for the RS is a more involved install and comes with more hardware.. brackets and whatnot....... where the RT version just basically lines up and bolts on with nothing more than screws....

:dontknow: Did you remove the old skid plate? I would contact SpyderPoPs and ask him about the gap.
