Double-Take

We are all getting pretty used to the stares and double-takes as we ride our Spyders. You get used to being a rock star after a while. Today, my wife had a surprise, however. She was stopped at a railroad crossing waiting for the train to pass. The engineer did a huge double-take, then gave her a thumbs up. She got a tremendous kick out of that one. :thumbup:

Either I'm not paying attention as much or the Spyder celebrity status is dying down in Flint, MI. I don't get nearly as many double-takes as I did during the first few months of ownership.

I still have ROCK STAR status here in Florida.

I get thumbs up everywhere and when parking still get people coming up to ask questions. I guess I better enjoy this cause ALL Good things come to an end. Although some times when your in a hurry it's a pain in the a$$.

I am sure the Harley guys I ride with will be glad when the rock star status is over HA HA HA :yes:

I thought the same thing. The Spyder broke down when my wife was driving it (a whole other story). I went to see if I could get it started and ended up calling a tow truck.

While sitting in my truck waiting an hour for the tow truck. Just about everybody that past it did a double take and went out of their way to look it over. So the celebrity status is still there but I think a lot of us are just getting used to the stares and double takes.

I believe the Spyder would be a one hit wonder ending as soon as everyone gets used to it. I do not pay too much attention its only because its new. Enjoy it as short as it lasts.:barf:

We have quite a few Spyders in the local area, so the locals have started to calm down, but we are a tourists area so the celbrity status continues. My wife and I were really suprised this last weekend when we took a trip to a neighboring state that doesn't have Spyder dealerships. We had what my wife calls the "Love Fest" everywhere we stopped. This is the south, so everybody was very polite about it, but it sure makes it hard to make any kind of good time when travelling. I am pondering the possiblity of an auxillery gas tank in the trailer to cut down on Love Fest gas stops.

Back in April I did some simple arithmetic and figgered that in North America there was about

.0004 spyders per square mile, and

over 2000 square miles per Spyder.

I think we're all just getting used to the celebrity status, and I think it'll be a
l o n g w h i l e before everyone sees it as just another vehicle...

Weeeeeel - Australia is 2,967,909 sq miles (7.6mil sq km) and with 150 Spyders I guess that makes 19,786 sq miles for each one (mind you most of that would be sand, scrub and a few roos)opcorn:

celebrity status is dying down quick for me to.

I was crusing down 85 running about 70mph when out of th blue a ford truck i recently passed catches up with me only to stick his camera phone out the window nearly wrecking the both of us. So i gave him my best pose then left him in spyder dust. true story.

I've had several drivers and passengers take pictures while moving. One guy dropped his phone out of the moving car, caught up to me at the next light on Rte. 1, and asked for me to wait while he used his wife's phone to take a pic. I asked about his other phone and he said "... it's pretty well :cus:ed now..."

I'm baffled by it. How is taking a picture with YOUR phone or camera better than googling a Spyder pic? :dontknow:

Being the creature of habit that I am I found myself returning gestures of waving and honking whenever I went through an intersection even if it was empty...now people stare at me for a different reason??

Yeah, I get it.

And to be clear, I don't mind the attention or the picture taking. But to me, it's a bit extreme to lose and/or break your s--t just to snap a picture. opcorn:
