• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cluster too bright at night

Is there anyway to dim the instrument cluster. I dont drive much at night but the other night my wife and I were driving through a mountain pass and I noticed that when I put my had over the cluster I could see much better.

I've been trying (Without success!) to reduce all of that glare too :shocked:... It's getting down to a big hunk of Duct Tape I fear... :gaah:

I don't know if this would help or work, but how about a piece of tinted window film placed over the control to reduce the glare and brightness. You would still be able to see your display and controls, but no longer have the glare? Just a thought!

:shocked: Not a bad idea... :thumbup: A piece of that stuff that they use to tint the top of a windshield and put some cute saying up there... Easy to cut to the correct size and easy to remove! Genius... :firstplace:

I sure helped mine at night. A setting of about 40%-60% works quite well.

Down that low? :shocked: Wow! That's worth a good try... I thought that contrast was referring to how the colors on the screen kind of mixed together. Since on my BEST days I'm pretty blurry, I was keeping it set up in the mid-eighties... :opps:

On Lamont's other site ( m109riders.com ) they had a guy who took clusters apart and changed the LED colors .

I bet that could be done on the spyder .

:shocked: ("Does it look any different to you?")
:shocked: ("I dunno... maybe?")

Maybe we're not the guys to tinker with this one and report back to the hive! :roflblack:

From what I can see, the setting changes the overall brightness more than it does contrast. The contrast changes, too, as a result, but not like it does with a true contrast setting. I did not see much happening until I lowered the setting quite a way. Anyway, it costs nothing to try. Experiment some dark night, and see if something suits you.

Possible solution...

I just open and close my eyes real fast and the "duty cycle" changes the effective brightness...

(YMMV) :clap::roflblack:

:roflblack: :shocked: But that make me dizzy...

Blink real fast, and it is like a strobe light. Just like I am back in the 60's man, cool. :roflblack:
