• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

FYI- New filters and Maintenance Schedule for ALL Spyders

I have a copy of the new maintenance schedule. If I can get to a scanner I will try to post it. Interesting.....it says it doesnt apply to bikes registered in California.Regards,Clay

Is it some place where we can pull it off the interent?

New filters and 600 mile service

I took my 2012 RT Limited in for the 600 mile service today, well dropped it off and will get it back tomorrow.
Before I left the dealers service dept., they gave me a copy of the Repair Order, it did state that the New part #
oil filter will be installed, but, nothing listed on the Order to change/replace the HCM transmission filter, new or old part #'s.
I left my owner's manual in the frunk so they can make the proper dealer notations in the manual, so now I can't
check the maintenance schedule to see if they ARE or ARE NOT suppose to change out the HCM filter on this service!

Also, the service guy informed me of a SB#2012-6 Spyder RT inspection Possible water infiltration Radio Module (warranty)

Just to give all a heads up on this possible issue.

The HCM filter is now supposed to be changed at every service interval. It previously was every other one, but that was changed by Service Bulletin. Your dealer doesn't seem to be on top of his game.

I'm a little puzzled by that. After all, the HCM filter gets the same oil as the oil filter so why would you change it every other one?

:agree:

And I wonder if they've even bothered to pull the oil tank screen and clean it???

That one I do every other oil change....

Can you tell me where I can find and print out a copy of the Service Bulletin for this change.

Had my 665 gps installed today and decided to have them change the oil while up on the rack including the screen which i don't think had ever been checked. Very little debris on the screen, the two magnetic plugs had some debris on the nipples so they did there job nicely. Also had them pull the green air filter which was dry with some debris in it. Blew it out and was good to go.

THe new filters are backordered according to my tech and BRP is taking back any "obsolete" inventory. I had him install baja Rons filters and amsoil.

If you have the aftermarket Green Filter (name brand) it is an oiled filter and is not supposed to be dry. You need to clean and oil it with the materials in their maintenance kit, just like a K&N. If it is an OEM filter, it is dry, but blowing it out can damage it...it is better to replace it.

Its the green high performance air filter scotty. I guessed it was going to be saturated with oil(i suspected my last oil change was overfilled) but was it wasn't. Bad choice of words using "dry". They didn't have the cleaner or the spray used for that filter and the kit i bought didn't arrive until after i got home today...but now that i see how to get it out, I will treat it with the proper materials. It only has 3k on it anyway. Thanks for the heads up of course.

Weird. My dealership has them in stock since monday and they sent all the old stuff back.

Not sure about the oiled filters though. Supposedly some have said that the air running past it eventually pulls enough oil to screw up the MAF. IDK

Some people think if a little oil on the filter is good, a lot is better. If you oil them properly with the correct oil you'll be fine. I'd say you'll get less oil residue from this kind of air filter (properly done) than you will from an unfiltered crank case vent about 2" from the intake! :yikes:

:agree: A MAP sensor is not like an O2 sensor...a little oil won't hurt it.
