• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

does any one use a bigger sway bar then factory looks like factory is 13MM was thinking of going 15 please list pros and cons thanks
 
I have the EVO. It isn't 15mm; I believe pro10is said it was 14mm. I think there is a 15mm available from someone in Australia. I also think there was one member here who purchased one.

BajaRon may be coming out with a swaybar. Not sure of its size.

The one big thing the swaybar helped with was crosswinds on the highway. I'm not sure how much it helped with cornering b/c I had the 2011 RT shocks installed just before the swaybar.
 
thanks i am looking at the 15mm one not a bad price $290 shipped just wanted some input if they are worth it i just ordered fox shocks

the bigger sway bar is well worth it not just in corners but on straights as well it takes some of the wallowing out and you don't have as much constant correction's
 
If you ordered Fox I would try them out and go from there? That might be all you need.
Thats what I was going to do I tryed a RSS and what a difference the fox shocks was they $416 from the dealer they had them in stock will get them in tuesday and post thanks for all the input always appreciated

I fitted a 15 mm sway bar about a month ago. It made a huge improvement to the handling. My Spyder feels more stable and sits more upright in corners.

I had had the standard front shocks jacked up to the highest preload to help control the leaning in corners and it worked, but it wasn't perfect. I was able to drop them back and get a better ride with the new sway bar.

It was pretty easy to fit and is adjustable so I can set it to a stiffer setting when I carry a pillion. Adjusting is a five minute job.

Hi I have been using a 15mm swaybar for about 4 weeks now I used to have an evo bar on my RT , I find the 15mm bar keeps the bike flatter when cornering I am very happy with the improvements.

I particularly find the sway bar as the best after market improvement you can do on a Spyder. Shocks are also a must and more expensive, $ for $ the sway bar is where I got the most bang for my buck. I also find they compliment each other as they perform different jobs. IMO the sway bar is specially important in the tracking department, with a good SB the Spyder feels like a train on tracks; add the Elka shocks and you will never understand why anyone would not have that combo installed. Day and night, man, day and night...

With the Bargain Prices Slightly used 011 and 012 RT shocks are being sold for I don,t think you could go wrong.
You could probably get them for 1/2 the price of a sway bar and then save for the sway bar if needed?

Really, you need both. But IMHO the sway bar is the bigger bang for the buck. A sway bar does things for your suspension that the shocks, no matter how good they are, simply can not do. A good set of shocks will do things for your suspension that a sway bar, no matter how good it is, simply can not do.

Whichever you leave out, you will be missing out on what that missing component will do for you.

The sway bars are in and I now have the correct bushings as well. If you need replacement bushings for the EVO bar let me know.

These bars are 14.3 mm, similar to the EVO bars that are no longer available. They are much stiffer than OEM, not as stiff as the 15mm bars that are available. They will be $179 delivered to the 48 US states. I have to do the install instruction sheet and hope to start on that tomorrow. I hope to be able to ship the end of next week.

NO...go with shocks first...I got the RTs on my GS and have a tremendous difference with all aspects of riding. I haven't gotten a sway bar yet but definitely would...

Not at this time. I've been using the 14mm bar for quite awhile and it does a very good job. I'm not saying the 15mm won't do a better job. But for the money, the 14mm is a very good value.

A sway bar actually transfers 'weight' so to speak to the inside wheel and rear wheel as well. Both are very much needed on our Spyders.

Don't get me wrong, shocks are great and will enhance the flatter cornering. Another aspect is, if you don't ride hard you won't notice the sway bar much. The harder you ride the more you will love a stiffer sway bar.

I am not sure a lot of people complain about the bar sliding. I've had mine for about 15,000 miles and a lot of riding hard in the twisties. I've never had an issue. I have heard that some get contact to the trunk. I am thinking this could be variation in the bends of the bar, variation in clearance to the trunk or a combination of both. Again, I've never had a problem.

But having said this I am looking into bar stoppers. So far I have not found anything off the shelf for a 14mm bar.

As far as riding hard goes...I ride plenty hard...no point in riding IMHO if you're just gonna coast everywhere. Riding a bike with a bit of pizazz is what it is all about. I felt the stock GS/RS had really spongy shocks...the bike had too much roll with sharp ramps onto the highways...you'd lean properly and when you'd come out of the turn, the bike would bite you back...the RT shocks effectively eliminated that. I'm big on twisties and ride primarily with 2 wheelers...they love to crush sharp turns and I've learned to keep up with them...only way to do it was with the RT shocks....my stock ones were too wobbly.

Now, for the swaybar. I look to this as being the other part of the transformation of the bike. I definitely want to get one because I do understand the value of keeping the mass of the bike from swaying. The shocks better absorb the pressure and don't throw it back at you...the bar will keep things stiffer before you even get into a turn/twisty...

Please take a look at the thread above. When your product is completed and good to go, I'll likely be very interested.
