Spyder Lift Question

I went out and picked up the 63 in. Pipes today. I'll make a set of the wooden ramps like in the pic above and I'll be good to go.

I have a Pro Lift drop tail XLT. Had it before Flamingbabe got her Spyder.
The extention rails are not wide enough for the Spyder...... So I holesawed another set of holes in the drop section, got longer pipes, and welded up some slip on floorplates for the Spyder's front wheels.
Back the spyder onto the lift. built a stop for the rear wheel and it puts the front tires in the middle of the platforms. Lets ya work up next to the bike!!!!!

FB is working to size some pics, and she will post them.

I like it! The ability to work up close has been what has stopped me from getting a lift. Oh yea, that and the total lack of room due to 2 Spyders, 24 other bikes, and a few collector cars.

I don't find the extensions get in the way at all....actually more comfortable cause I rest my elbows on them taking some the strain off my back & shoulders which....like everything else....have been abused over the years.

Nice set-up hotglue!

It never occurred to me to back onto the lift till I saw hotglue's pics....so I gave it a try. It works really well. :ohyea:

I wasn't able to drive on with the factory ramps for the same reason he mentioned....the frunk scrapes the center ramp. But backing....no more scrape. I was also able to reinstall the factory wheel stop in the center section.

This is great, no more long front wheel ramps (6' x 2" x 6" boards) to mess with! Thanks for the idea.

BTW, it's also ideal for the garden tractor and 4-wheeler, sno-blower, generators, carb rebuild table...and anything else that's too heavy to put on the bench!

The lift as it is now set up works real well with both 2 wheel bikes and the Spyder!
Man.... I'd love ta see yer shop!!!!!!!! and collection !!!!!!!

Don't have much shop left...it is all collection these days. If we decide to build another house, that will change, but I am out of room on this tiny acre. A lot of the toys are in my albums.

Those folks at Weaver don't mess around. I ordered the lift on Friday the 11th first AM and it will be delivered tomorrow afternoon Monday the 14th.

Low down and puzzled

What a day! First thing this morning went to a steel supplier and had two new rods cut to length, cheap at twice the price. The Spyder is setting on the lift but, no pictures. Maybe tomorrow ;)

Only thing is is, the Spyder high centered the first time up (not major but, enough that it required some ingenuity to get it on up, there was no way in heck it was coming back off. Theres a plate in the center of the lift with a hand hole in it for easy removal and any backward motion would have had the Spyders exhaust hung up in the hole. Everything I'm aware of is adjusted to make it least probable for that to happen but, it happened. The Olé back has had it for today, so I'll reassess things in the morning. At the moment I simply have no answer as to why? Perhaps a new day will shed a little light on it  That said....I sure like the lift.

Note where high center marks are. (not the mark on the far left that's just a tire line) The two in the center that meet up with the hand hole are the culprits.

Excuse the mess - lots going on here.

There are some leg adjustments to lower the ram a bit, you might want to check that. Mine clears just fine but I have Elka's on the front and the raises it a bit. I got to tell you I love this thing. :doorag:

 check! Once the spyder was all the way on and I could raise the lift to get the pressure off the adjusters I screwed them all the way in. Spyder now sets on the lift in the classic off road 4x4 nose up stance but, I'm not sure if that will give me the needed clearance, cause I need a second set of eyeballs to check the clearance and I'm kinda working alone. In the meantime, I shimmed things up so I knew it wouldn't hang up and took it off the lift this morning. See my post ONLY IN CALIFORNIA - DMV!!!

Thanks for the heads up Lamont.

When playing with my new fender mod I lowered the bike way down and as I was backing off I scrapped a little bit too.:opps:

I took the extra chopper extension and used it to make the middle longer so it doesn't drag now. I just leave that on the ground. :doorag:

Love Love Love the FENDER!!!!!! How cool is that. Way to go man! And, the target date for the next Lamonster option is?

Without doubt you solved the approach problem by getting the rear wheel up sooner. Perfect!

Thanks for sharing.

Almost done

Ran out of garage! So, had to shorten the rear wheels -start UP distance but , made up for it by getting the front wheels up sooner too. To keep the Spyder from spitting out the chopper extender plate, or, bumping it forward. I cut to size and re drilled a couple of the tubes that came with the lift, inserted 3/8" threaded stock through those holes and double nutted on both sides of each tube. If it moves "WE'VE HAD AN EARTH QUAKE" :joke:

The run ups for the fronts are 2x10x3' - siliconed to the floor. They should stay planted as well.

Yet to be done. Plumb in air on that side of the garage for the lifts foot control and, think I'm going to put guard rails along the outboard wheel rails to keep me from driving off. :yikes: Probably wouldn't be necessary in most cases but the Spyder in my case will be parked on the lift if I'm not out and about on it. That's a lot of ups and downs. Oh, and if you look at the center of the lift you'll notice I added anti skid tape.......it's for those rare days it rains in the desert. Without doubt the powder coat will be as slick as any road stripe you've ever spun a tire on.;)

Just put a hitch on the Marano.......all that's needed now is a trailer?

One VERY FULL garage. Gives rise to the saying 10 lbs in a 5 lb bag.
