• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New map for Garmin Zumos 2013.10 (Works on almost all Garmins as well)

You can buy a lifetime map card from ebay around $60 and it will also includes Canada as well, not a bootleg card the real deal.

Zumo 220 Froze Up After Upgrade

On the phone with Garmin support. I used the Zumo up and back from SF. I did the update to the new map set and it froze the unit. :gaah::gaah: Garmin is sending out a replacement unit and told me I should maybe wait a week or so after I get the new unit in case the map set has a corrupt file. Just a heads up if you have issues after the upgrade.

Updated mine fine last night. Sorry to hear you had problems. Good to know they are taking care of it. How old is your unit?

My unit was about 18 months old and actually out of warranty. They extended the warranty in case it was the map set that caused the problem. They went above and beyond to get this fixed. I'm not thrilled its frozen but sure am glad I'm working with a class outfit that stands behind their product (even out of warranty).

I wish they had a discount for multi garmins since this can only be used for one garmin, based on s/n.

When you replace your current garmin, you are no longer able to use it, correct?

I was told that since it was a replacement unit I would be able to, I did ask.

I guess I didn't say that right. If I decide to buy a new garmin, I will not be able to use the updater with it.

That's my understanding but I would call support to make sure. You may be able to transfer the lifetime maps subscription. That's what they are doing for me since the replacement unit will have a different sn.

I get a new super cheap Garmin every 3-4 years. New features, new maps, and I don't worry about it disappearing or breaking so much as an expensive model and all the paid map updates. And I like giving the old ones away and people love it.

BUT... with lifetime maps @ $65... I might need to rethink this.

The lifetime maps are only for the ONE specific device that it is registered for...just FYI.

:agree: I know. I have 2 garmins also. I plan on keeping them for several more years so it's cheaper than doing a one time update.

Update

I'm having a heck of a time connecting. When I attach the special piece to the Garmin, attach the USB, attach to the USB Port, I get this crazy message that its attached to the wrong port. I've tried all the ports I have on my desk top. Tried all the the ports on my laptop.........I still can't connect. Any ideas folks......Its frustrating.
I have the Zumo 660!:gaah:

garmin update

I purchased the lifetime updates (4x per year for life) for $89 at Garmin's site. (one time for $59, I'm no math genius, but the $89 looked like deal). As mentioned, it is only good one ONE device, so this GPS needs to last a couple years. It's already way better than the in dash in my Mazda CX7 and cheaper to update. They want $200 to get the 2010 DVD update (just once!).

The download took like 50 minutes so I left and came back. The install took about that much time, again left and came back. It definitely changes the look of your maps and interface.
