• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Valve Stems

:helpsmilie: Has anyone here tried using the aluminum 90 degree (some are 84 degrees) valve stems as replacements for the Spyder's...especially the rear one! :banghead:
If so, can you share if there are any available to fit the Spyder tires and where you purchased them? They work great on many motorcycles that have stems that are hard to reach...none as bad as the one on the Spyder rear wheel, though!

The Bonneville Salt Flats require metal stems only; I'll go and check the receipts to see where I bought those.

VALVE STEMS

I have been preaching moving the rear valve stem to the other side when you do a rear tire change for 6 mos....You can buy steel ( not alum.) Mtc 87 degree made especially for our rims from "kurveygirl" (?) .com get the cheap ones....2 @ $ 10 ...I don't know what the shipping is....but the price is awesome.......I moved mine 6 mos. ago and have no regrets....it was easy.......Mike.... PS only use the 87 degree stems if move the valve stem they will not work in the OEM position.

This is the same place where I ordered stems for my Burgman650. They do make a fine product! I just didn't look there this time, since the OEM rear stem on the Spyder doesn't look much like valve stems I am used to seeing, I wondered if they were a "special" size. I don't remember seeing them on the site before, but of course I wasn't looking for Spyder ones the last time I was there.

So what's the verdict? Do they work in the original position? Clear the sprocket? Right size for the hole?

I don't have the answer yet. I sent an email to the website, but no answer, so far. I would think they can be installed in the original hole (position?) in the rim. As for the clearance problems, IMHO that should be no problem, either.

While we're at it, does anybody know for sure that the rims have the common passenger car .453" hole? I would imagine so but you never know...

Based on doc's above I ordered a set because I am replacing my rear tire. The valve stem will not fit the original location valve stem. The hole in the rim is in fact a .453 in hole and the diameter of the rest of the area is about .630 inches give or take. Received the valve in the mail today and tried to install it but the body is way to large to install. Am working on plan 2 for a right angle valve stem but it won't be be here until the end of the week.
I'll take detail pictures tomorrow night...:dontknow:

I installed a Doran tire pressure monitor system that came with straight and 90 degree metal stems. These did not fit on the stock rims. I had to grind the openings larger in order to fit these stems, this worked out ok for me since I was getting my rims powder coated, but it was definitely a problem getting the metal stems to work.

Had the same system installed and could not find any metal stems to fit stock rims. Len from cowtown eventually installed something that works, not sure exactly though.
