• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wind blew my lower deflecter off

It looked like it was a good day for a ride but the wind soon became what felt like gale force and I was having to slide the cheek over to one side to help control the bike at speed. Not at all fun for the 2 of us so we cut the ride short and stopped for some people fuel and I noticed that the lower deflector was gone. Ran over to the dealer and ordered a replacement and booked my time in for the TB check. By the time we got home we were bagged from fighting with the wind and even with ear plugs the extra volume in the helmet pretty much knocked us out. So much for havin a BBQ. Have to do a solid checking of all fasteners tomorrow.

There are two hooks on the front of the lower wind deflector. Make sure they are intact (they break readily, and make sure both are hooked inside the adjacent panel before buttoning up the push darts, rivet(s), and screw. Not sure how you could lose one unless it broke.

:yikes: That had to be some kind of "industrial strength" wind...

Did anything else on your Spyder get loosened up as a result of it?

I still don't really understand how that could happen. It is held on by one or two plastic rivets, two tabs on push darts, two hooks, and a screw. The screw and plastic rivets are under other body panels. They can't just come loose. Did someone perform maintenance and forget the fasteners? Did someone stand on the deflector and break it? It would be nice to be able to understand this incident.

Good question Dave! I was thinking the one on the "Bottom", but the one called "Lower" sits above it...

:agree: Are you talking about access panels? The only other person I have heard of losing a lower wind deflector is due to a suicidal raccoon.

The lower wind deflectors are mounted with two torx head screws. Not sure how this could have come off with wind unless it actually broke off.
