• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Suggest that a Sticky be made on Tires

Before I got a new rear tire I spent a lot of time searching to see what others had used. Even PM'ed a couple folks for more info. Every few days some of us are asking what is a good tire.

My suggestion is that a sticky or somesuch be made where folks could list brand, size, air pressure, etc and new additions could be made when one buys a new tire.

This would be helpful to folks who are reaching the point of needing that first tire.

If we start down that road, we will end up with stickies for octane, LEDs, seats, backrests, Juice Box settings, and lots of other mods. That's what the search engine is for. JMHO

I contest that this is a very subjective subject.

And therefore, while I believe you have a fantastic idea and I think we might look for having some additional pages about tires we know wont freak out said nanny, and might have a listing of people using the specific tire in question, maybe even with reviews.

Now I am interested in a more robust area for reviews / lists, I will examine the options for this board type and see about a suggestion.

Since my son is in the tire business, I have kept a close eye on these type thread and believe I have a good handle on the spyder tire situation. If anyone needs to know something along this line of questioning, you can PM me if you would like and I will get you an answer if I can. My son has direct access to two of the largest wholesaler in the Northeast.

Ryan, thats what I was thinking too. I did the search thing and got about a zillion hits, most of which dealt with tire pressure, and spent lots of time doing it. Lots of the hits mentioned brand, but not size which is important to know it won't trip the nanny. In fact, the mechanic who installed my 205/60 was somewhat dubious but I had done the tire calculation thing before purchase and felt comfortable with it.

While some folks are very savvy both technically and mechanically and don't need much help, many of us are not and many of us are just plain newbies, and some of us are not very swift at doing searches, but most of us like to save money by ordering a tire of choice. Dealer wanted 149 for a Zumho? but I feel sure the General tire I bought for 73 delivered was a better choice for me. Thats a significant saving; at least to me and went towards having a few other things serviced while it was in the shop.
