• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any tips or suggestions for my spyders first dr visit

Im taking my spyder into the dealer for an oil change and the dealer im bringing it to has a GREAT rep here in Northern Illinois . They are going to give it a once over to make sure all is on the up and up with it . But since I Bought it used I am not sure what updates/ warranty work has been done to it, I know the dealer will tell me but I wanted to turn to you all here . Is there any updates I shouldnt have installed or should have installed or try to have warranited via TSB's ? Almost forgot I have a 2009 GS !

Depending on miles the dealer may want to check the valves after 6000mi ..Its a lot of money at around $800. Most dont bother to have it done till much later on. Many have had them checkedat 20K+ with no adjustment needed...

Your dealer though the VIN# can tell what updates have been done or what hasn't.

I have read that lately , and I tell them not to bother with the valves ( THANKS SPYDERLOVERS !!!) But I remember reading about brake pads being redesigned or something like that , or Buds systems updating the computers versions things like that ya know . The spyder is running great and I want to keep it that way. I dont want to update to BUDS version 2.0 and have my spyder go all stupid on me tis the start of the riding season and that would totally make me :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: . Yeah I was looking forward to seeing what was and wasnt done I had the oil changed last year but it was just change the oil nothing more nothing less. I dont think they even checked for any other safety things or updates granted I didnt ask them to , but ya know what I mean

BRAKES

Smokinspyder, BAJARON a sponsor on this site has the best brake package on the market aaaannnndddd waaaaay less expensive than OEM just IMHO and many others. Mike....

If you are not having problems (like noise) from the brakes, or other problems, why have them addressed? If you do have problems with something, tell them and let them take care of those difficulties. Many TSBs are not applicable to all Spyders, just those actually exhibiting the issues in the bulletin. Don't worry about what you read here or what some other owner experienced. The dealer can look up to see what applies to all Spyders in your VIN range, let the other stuff go unless you actually need it repaired. JMHO

why am I letting the dealer look at everything when typically I do the work myself . well when I bought the wonderful addition I havent really had anyone with spyder knowledge look at it . Just for that " peace of mind" Im bringing it to them to look at .. and the dealer is VERY supportive of us here in Northern Illinois trying to return the favor to him . I figured the vavles is really the only thing that I really need to nix when I go there. unless they come up with something crazy . But thanks for verifing what I already sorta knew , just wanted more experience to sort of assure me .
