Evolution III

Yesterday I received my Evolution III Windshield from Marcel
in light smoke. The Windshield was wrapped perfect and it did
come on time for my first 350 miles trip with my wife and friends.
Let me tell you something, that Windshield is the best I ever used on a
Motorcycle. Damn, I did go 90+ mph and no buffeting at all.
The first time since I own a Spyder, I did hear my engine and the sound of the muffler. It fit perfect and all holes are fine. I also received
nice screws and a cool hat. No matter what others say, I will use
Marcel's Windshield from now on on all my bikes.
My friends are so impressed by the way the Windshield looks and performed, that we called him today and ordered another 3
Even on a Sunday he took his time to talk to us.
What a service.
Thanks Marcel

Yup, I 've have my Evo III about a week or two now and I just love it. I've had it up to 90mph and on the highways and side roads. This is just a really nice windshield. My noise reduction is fantastic, no head buffeting and I am not real tired from fighting the wind on my upper body. When I installed it, it lined up perfectly and went on in less than 5 minutes. Marcel hit a home run with the EVO III, that is for sure.

I have to laugh a bit when I see the new product reports on Marcel's windshields. While it appears as though, for the most part, he finally got it right, I won't do business with someone who has to be called out publically to give a refund. The reason I find humor in the reviews is because I do most of my shopping online and we have purchased thousands of dollars in motorcycle mods over the years. I have yet to see a review that said, "wow, the nut screwed onto the end of the bolt," or "the button fit through the button hole!" That's what "the holes lined up" seems like to me and it kinda cracks me up!!!:doorag:

Where were you at Roar on the Shore. We are from Erie and were downtown all three days. Sorry we missed you would have liked to check out the windshield.

Hi and Hello all of you.
I like to thank you all for your nice e-mails and phone calls.
We from F1 really do appreciate your caring and as we see you all enjoy our EVO III Windshields.
We also like to thank you, that you share :chat:your EVO III "first hand" experience with others.

Regards to you and Ride Save,
TEAM F1/ Marcel July
P.S.
I have noticed that some of you go now way faster with there new Windshield than before. Looks like we are getting a internal Speedy:2thumbs: contest going.
That's so cool..... But please, be careful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For over 2 months I'm using the dark smoked F1. No problems with the installation, no bursts, no buffering, no noise (Cannot disclose here the real top speed :firstplace:).
Thanks Marcel and co.
Questions:
1. Did I read above something about a hat? :dontknow:
2. Where is your vendor link from the SpyderLovers' home page? :dontknow:

I agree, things are supposed to fit. I think that is the whole point of this thread. The EVO III got it right. I am sorry you had a bad experience with Marcel. I had a small amount of sanding I had to do on my F1 and some tweaking, but overall is was a pretty decent shield. Being a new product, made for a new product, there are bound to be growing pains. For those of us that bought the very first run, there were bound to be some "issues" They say the third time is a charm and I think Marcel hit it with the EVO III. I expected it to fit and it does and I just wanted people to know that.

Well I would agree except that nobody else has gotten their products so wrong that folks have to fix them to make em work. Their aftermarket products are also new products for a new product! It really is no big deal and does not affect me as I have my refund now, I just thought it was funny. I hate to shop in stores so I rely heavily on reviews for shopping. Many of them will say, and I am talking clothes here, "fits true to size," "runs big, order one size smaller," etc. I have just not seen one that says the obvious, like "the buttonholes are where they need to be to match up with the buttons!" Nothing personal, I just thought it was funny!!

The real question will be how it affects your gas mileage.
Please post these if you could.
Thanks

So far so good. On the hwy getting about 34-36 mpg and in town driving getting about 30-32 mpg. So no real deficit there. I am very happy.

I am not trying to start an arguement and I really understand where you are coming from since you had a very bad experience with Marcel's product. Read Magic Man's (at least I think it was Magic Man) or Nexus's post of the install of their Corbin bags. Or Lamonster's post on installing the Corbin seat. Or the recent post of Kewlmetal mirror extenders with rusty bolts or my Thibault rack with the same rusty bolt problem. I'm quite sure there are more out there. I'm not meaning to pick on any of the mentioned vendors or trying to be Marcel's big defender but there have been issues with other products.

Yup, Brian.

This board gives folks a "heads up" on many potential issues.

PE owners, remember the dealer last winter who mounted the tire backwards?!
Remember the number of PE's that had the temp sensor still zip-tied to the shock mount so they were giving horribly false readings?!
How many spyders didn't have their rotors cleaned?
Remember getting a copy of the pre-delivery instructions (Thanks again, Rando and Phil209/KMA10-4!) just so we could ask "are you sure you took care of that?" when we visited the dealer?

...and these were BRP/dealer "heads-up" incidents, not even after market companies!

The more I can be mindful thanks to all your sharing experiences here, the more easily I can make informed decisions regarding my investment. So thanks again for sharing, everybody!

No argument or offense taken. Again, it just makes me laugh that it's a huge surprise that the holes line up! This is over and over again! His issues were on nearly every new shield in the beginning. The other vendors quietly fixed their issues. I don't really see bolts rusting as an issue as that happens on a ton of aftermarket products that bolt on. Just an observation and not meant to offend Marcel's defenders. I too am grateful for the reviews and for the folks who are willing to discuss their experiences.

I just installed an EVO III on my wife's Spyder. Packaging, fit, finish, quality, timely shippping was all top-notch.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I Like to never got one of the original BRP windshield bolts out. When I tried to reinstall the new bolts I discovered it wouldn't go. Took a look at the bolt I took out - sure enough - they cross-threaded it at the factory. Should we now start a new thread on all the things Can Am has done wrong?

I happen to have enough confidence in Marcel's product that I've asked him to fabricate a windshield for my new Piaggio MP3 500. With the time he's spent on this (including a trip to an out-of-town Piaggio/Vespa dealer) to make sure of fit and angle, etc, he'll lose money on my shield. Yes, I'm aware that he may make it up down the line on other customers. However, how many fabricators would do that on a new bike with limited numbers on the road.

Everything I've seen indicates that he is committed to customer service and satisfaction.
