• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Riser review

Well I tested the 3" risers yesterday and I love them. Now I say 3" but the way I have the offset it's really only about 2.25" center to center. The set I have coming next week will be a true 3" rise and you can pull them back as needed. :doorag:

One strange benefit I found is I don't use my highway pegs as much now with the risers. I find that having my arms up and back seem to make the ride so much more comfortable that I don't feel the need to move around as much.

Another added benefit is I have more leverage with it being higher and a little wider than stock. All in all it just made everything perfect for me and when Heavenbound sat on my bike he knew he wanted to do this mod too. :doorag:

Wow! 3 inches? I'd like that! I put the 1 inch risers on and it's much better than when it was stock. 3 inches would be killer!

Mirror extensions

It looks like with these risers, the mirror extensions might be needed. Is that true or am I just imagining this?

I don't recall the source of the risers or their cost. Can you please post where you got them?
Did you have to cut the stock handle bar or did you replace it and the ends with some other bars?

Magic Man will be posting that info as soon as he gets all his ducks in a row. Right now these are just a home made version of what he will have in the future.

You keep the stock bars and cut off the ends. There is no need to mess with the stock bars other than that. You do need to cut some zipties to give you some slack and I did reroute the reverse cable too. Well worth the effort to me. It was the one thing that was keeping my Spyder from being perfect for the long haul. :spyder::doorag:

When I had the 4" on it cut the view down some because you were looking at your hands. The 3" is much better but you may be right about having the mirror extentions though. I haven't tried it without them so I can't say for sure. :dontknow:

sick mod Lamont.. Ill have to see this one in person.. any big change in cornering, and weight shifting?

Just got home from four days in western NC mountains (including one day w/Lamont ... that's another story which I'll post Monday). While reviewing the board, I saw this thread about the Risers. GET YOURS ON ORDER ASAP!!! Those things are awesome. I was perfectly happy with the set Lamont had on his bars but he told me they were just the prototypes. He has a critical eye and knows when things are right.

Although I didn't ride his Spyder I could tell that they will not flex under hard steering ..... and ..... believe me, Lamont did some hard turning the day we rode together! They look good, too. I'm not sure about the degree of difficulty regarding the install but from what I saw, I feel confident I could do it. I consider my mechanical ability average!!

NO ... Lamont didn't promise me anything to post this mini-review of the risers. As you can tell, I'm "gung ho" about these things. We never discussed price but I told Lamont I wanted a set - NOW!!

I'm thinking 3-4 inch risers would make the riding position awesome. I've ridden with the stock and 1 inch riser and a world of diff so I know the extra 3-4 inches would make it perfect. Patiently waiing. tick tock tick tock

Glad you made it back safe Bro. I hit more bad rain on the way home and just missed a minivan that was bouncing off of the rails. :yikes:
