• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New owner has question about front shocks

My wife and I just purchased a 2011 RT SM5:joke:. Together we weigh about 400 lbs:yikes:. I want to adjust the front shocks to a firmer setting. I have the wrench and prior knowlege from adjusting my Harley. Question is how do you make the adjustment? The owners manual says, 'manually raise the front of vehicle to extend the suspension'. Manually - -my wife is supposed to lift while I adjust or is there a different method I am missing? Currently I have been unsuccessful in being able to move the adjustment.

A low profile floor jack or scissors jack uner the front of the frame, or an ATV jack under the center of the frame will do the job. If you spray the adjusters with WD-40 it helps a lot.

Lol or I can just get ya a set of elka's and cure the entire issue all together my friend lol:roflblack: congrats on your ride scottys right on:thumbup:

I like my Works shocks better.. Remember, tire pressure & shock settings work together, and the stock adjusters are FRAGILE!!!!!

The Elkas or Works Performance shocks are nice, but you won't have anything to compare to without trying the Spyder at an appropriate setting first. Try the stock shocks first. The 2011 shocks do a pretty decent job, but for riding two-up you will want them maxed out. The 2011 adjusters are steel, so they don't break reaily, like the older ones did. Jack it up, spray with WD-40, and have at it. You shouldn't need a cheater on the wrench, but I would not be afraid to use one with the 2011 steel adjusters.

I adjusted mine on the ground.
:doorag:

Caution is the better part of Valor, :dontknow:

They don't all break [cam] I've adjusted shocks dozen's of times on my ATC's, ATV's, And Side by's, That said the first time i did my Spyder [Jacked up] a cam broke.

New owner has question about front shocks - resolved

With your suggestions and my resolve the O.E.M. shocks on our RT are adjusted for our weight;). I plan to follow up on suggestions to install after market shocks. Thanks for your help.

Why do say you like them better??? Just curious??? From what I have looked into and study and tested Elka has got a great system! Just wanted to know what about them you like better??? Elka has sure been really good at taking care of a lot of Spyderlover! Is it because your upset with me about something. It's seems you have more of an issue with me than anything. If I have offend you some how I truly appoligives, and have no idea what I have done to upset you. But all in all...... I'm sticking with elka, Any ways hope you have a great evening sir.
