• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

According to this article--Spyder owners lack skill, daring, and determination...

That's what I said Baja. I want to let everyone know............... (click link) :roflblack:

Was it my imagination, or was that Kevin Coster dubbing for Eddie Murphy at a certain point of this clip (not going to say the name...:cus:)?:roflblack::roflblack:

Well, I don't think the author was trying to offend anyone, either. The words chosen to get across the idea were lacking, though...and maybe just a bit strong. He sure could have done better. Just to set the record straight, some of us ride the Spyder because we just plain like it! I have ridden motorcycles (and fallen off them) faster than most riders have ever even gone. I drove front-engined fuel dragsters in the days of single layer nomex fire suits. I have raced a variety of vehicles, and am actually considering building a land-speed attempt vehicle...at my semi-advanced age. I doubt my skill is what it once was, and my brain cells work to well these days to be considered a daring individual, so maybe the author is right, but I still ride my two wheelers...and I ride my Spyder out of choice, and for no other conscious reason.

Amazing how you can get two different interpretations out of the same words. This leads me to believe that it is not necessarily the intent of the "sender", but instead the meaning that is given by the "receiver". Just a thought.

Chris

Sounds to me like a bunch of mumble,:joke: jumble :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: :roflblack::roflblack:way to go Chris thats what I like about you,you know how to explain things.:2thumbs:

The article was right on. It does not take skill, determination and daring to ryde a Spyder, but it does take cash, adventurism and patience to own one.

I agree that it does not take skill, determination, and daring to ryde a Spyder.....but it also does not take a lack of skill, determination, and daring to ryde one...as the article implied.

Have I told y'all lately how much I love how positive, warm, and friendly this place is? You don't see much negativity in this forum, and I love that. Please know that I'm not trying to be negative. You all know at this point how I took the article. I didn't find it to be warm, positive, and friendly! :( But I'm really happy the Spyder community is!

Thanks,
Andy

Now you make me feel bad I used the term 'thin-skinned'.
In fact, I apologize.

In my opinion,,,
We don't buy spyders because we are scared of motorcycles, we buy them because they are a different animal, i like different,
i consider myself a fairly decent rider, i have owned almost every heavy weight bike from a gsxr1100 to a yamaha vmax,
my ride now is a triumph rocket3 with 2300cc and over 140lbs of toque, i also have a blackbird1100 but one of my favorites?my 07 ninja250,,
soooo,,, do i feel "seasoned" enough to ride the spyder??
Well, my wife don't think so, she never lets me ride it, i see an RT in my near future and i will NOT let her ride it:ohyea:

I don't care... Just give me a set of handlebars, an internal combustion engine and less than 4 wheels and I'm as happy as a clam in wet sand...

I'm just glad I don't have to put my feet down in stop and go traffic anymore. Like everyone else I've
been riding 2 wheelers forever and just love my Spyder and its benefits.

Article

I agree that this was a good write up for the Spyder. Just an unfortunate choice of words that can and was taken a couple of ways. But, look at it this way. Skill--take any "seasoned" motorcycle rider of 20 years,
put him or her on a Spyder and say go! Watch their skill level. Determination--takes that to get used to the Y design, loose grip on the handlebars, etc. That doesn't come after 5 miles. Daring--you betcha. Just ask anyone who has driven a Spyder in heavy traffic with the fabric of your jeans the only protection you have between you and the cage with the idiot driver next to you.

DidI mention I love my Spyder too? I have to sign off now. Time to ryde my :spyder2:
