There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Antena Boot

The first week after taking delivery of my new :spyder2:, I noticed the boot from the bottom of my antena was missing. Not sure how it went up and over but it is gone. The dealer said they only sell it with the antena, $55.00 to replace. Anyone have thoughts about an after market one that would include a boot? I saw one on the ESI website but it said to reuse the stock boot.

Sorry for the repeat question, I always search first, ask later.

Antenna Boot

Your dealer is mistaken. The part # for the Boot is 708300156 antenna base RH MSRP was $10.99 US
RH & LH are same number.
KYSPYDER

The boot can't leave town without the antenna being removed. The tech had to have missed it during the dealer prep. A good dealer would not have questioned it at all, much less have asked you to pay $55 for a new one. BTW, the antenna assembly does not include the boot, as I recall. I hope things improve on your next visit to the dealership...or you find an alternate dealer soon.

Thanks for the info everyone. My service dealer is not where I purchased the Spyder. That dealer had there main tech sidelined with a wrist injury.
Wow just found pictures from my first stop with the Spyder, a close up that shows the boot was never there (you were right nancy.

Damn the price went from $55 to $10 to zero....

Glad to hear you are getting the problem worked out. Its supposed to come with a boot.

When my antenna fell off (a previous recall from BRP) they replaced the antenna, boot an all. Cost $0

The antenna issues was a pretty simple fix--but you are right--the antenna should not fall off of any vehicle.

The fix--a lockwasher and some blue locktite-------DUH!

Mine fell off during our 2200 mile trip last week (trip thread coming soon!!!). Gotta take it to the dealership.

The boot is missing from my antenna and my husband said it used to be there. I've never removed the antenna so it looks like it did come off with the antenna on.

When I took delivery of my RT there were 2 rubber antenna boots packed in the rear trunk with the ipod wiring & stuff. My dealer took one away and kept it. He said I wouldn't need it unless I bought a CB unit using a second antenna. I've just changed the standard antenna for a shortee and I noticed that the small antenna hole in the rubber boot is bigger than it used to be, probably caused by the constant whip movement of the long standard antenna. Has anybody found a way to make the boot hole a snug fit around the antenna to keep out rain water? :dontknow:

SpyderAnn01: Sounds like you ended up with a shorty antenna. Maybe your original was missing and the dealer did a quick fix?

When my original fell off--I went to WalMart and purchased a shorty for about $10.00 and used that until the dealer got me another one.

I also lost the boot with the original antenna--but dealer replaced that also.

As it turns out...grrrr

Luckly I brought it to a different dealer than where I bought the Spyder, (this dealership has great guys whom I have used many times before, but they are 1 1/2 hours from house)

I picked it up today only to have him give me a list of things that were never done. It started with the missing antena boot and the list got longer. 3 plastic rivets that were not there, stainless steel screws missing, battery cables barely attached.

Though they listed everythng on the invoice he did not charge me for anything besides the 600 service. He warranteed the base, frein spring and brake spring.

The only thing that makes me mad is the dealer brought the Spyder in from another dealer (10 miles on the odometor) and said, oh we buy from this guy all the time and his bikes are always perfect. Then told me she had her tech go through it from top to bottom to be sure.

This may seem minor, (and I do not blame BRP at all) but I expected things to be right and they were not. At least I know were to bring my 'Dog Sled" from now on, hey its a nice ride back.

Back in the saddle now and heading to Newport RI on Sunday in a group ride of about 14 bikes..

Less than honest dealers, and sleazy service--has been the bain of the :spyder2: since day one.

Why not give that dealer some free advertising--unless I missed it. Members then know which one to avoid.
