STATIC on the AM part of the stereo

Since I have had my Spyder, I have always had static and breaking up on the AM part of the radio. The FM is fine. As soon as I start to drive , the static begins. If I am idling and not moving, there is no static. I took it to the dealer today, and they heard the problem also and called BRP. The dealer told me that BRP said this is normal for the AM. That is hard to believe. Does anyone else have this problem with the AM ? He said their demo does this also, but I didn't try there's to see.

I read all your articles about the static. What I would like to know is if there is a solution to the AM static problem ? It would almost seem to be a loose wire situation, since it only starts to static as soon as I start to drive, but not when idling and not moving. Where is the radio ? I can't believe the dealer said it's no big deal. Are they kidding ?

So you are saying that this happens on your Spyder all the time ? If so, that's a bummer. The dealer said to me today "Who listens to AM anyway?" I do, I told him. I like hearing the news and the weather. LOL.

Does anyone know why the AM gets all the static only when moving ? It almost seems it would have something to do with a loose connection, since it works fine with the engine running and sitting at idle. I doesn't make sense. BRP can make a $27,000 vehicle but can't get a simple thing like the AM to work. Go figure.

I do not have any AM radio static. I remember years back that the auto and m/c dealers had to install a "ground of some sort" as when the wheels turn they generated an electrical current (static) of some sort. Please don't pin me down on this, but I do remember it. Your radio should not have static, standing still or moving.

We have a good local news and talk AM station which I listen to a lot.

I also have a Gold Wing Motor Trike. My GW AM/FM/CB radio is MUCH better than the BRP equipment.

I rode my Wing this morning with thirteen of my buddies. I was riding sweep and my friend just ahead of me was on his 2011 RT-AC and has a BRP CB. The leader, on his HD, later said "Your CB is much stronger and much more clear than Frank's and stronger than your Spyder when you ride it." I said, "Yeah, I can hear you much better on my Wing and Frank's CB is not very clear." BRP electronics are not near the quality of the Gold Wing.
