So my Spyder (2010 RS-SE5) is dripping oil from pretty much the center of the bike right under the motor. I've gone as far as taking the plastic off the right and left side but can't see anything leaking. I checked the oil level and it is right at the full line and might have been a little over before the leak started. I had the oil changed by a dealer a couple weeks ago and it looks like they might have over filled a little bit. Would this be caused by the dreaded oil in the airbox problem? Thanks everyone and sorry guys my mechanical skills are zero.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

If you can run your hand under the air box and you find it's wet with oil i would say it's coming from the air box. [blow bye] Very easy fix.

Yes I have. That is not the problem.
I just figured I would give a quick update on the oil leak problem my spyder has been having. I picked it up this morning (keep in mind this is the third time it's been to the dealer for this problem) and was told the problem has been fixed and the bike has been test ridden and they have observed no more oil leaks. I pick it up and ride it about 7 miles back to work and park it for a couple hours. I come outside to go for a spin on my lunch break and there it is, about a quarter size spot of fresh oil. The spyder is going back to the dealer for the fourth time now. Is it time to get BRP involved? The customer service this dealer has provided me is top notch. The mechanical service they have provided me not so much. We will see what they have to say for themselves this afternoon.

Well that's part of the problem. They haven't been able to tell me what the actual problem is, only that it has been fixed. Obviously it hasn't been fixed and at this point they have no idea what's causing the leak. This last time they had it for five days. They said they took the spyder apart and cleaned up all the oil that had leaked. They put everything back together and test drove it multiple times to see if the leak came back. No leak they said. I rode it for a few miles and it was pretty obvious there was still a leak there. I'm going to give them one last chance before I send off an e-mail to BRP. Like I mentioned earlier the customer service at this place is top notch, it's just they can't seem to fix my spyder.

I still think it's blow by, And those crack mechhanic's haven't figured it out yet, Ask them if they opened up the air box, and if they did what did they find.
I wish this was the case. I've seen inside the air box and it is completely dry.
I had an oil leak leak at the gasket where the water pump and attaches to the engine. The leak was small and I would have a quarter size puddle under the middle of the bike after a ride.
The dealer did not find it the first time. They told me it was the air box. I found it by pulling the right side panels, jacking up the bike and running it until it was warm and then I could see the
oil leaking at the gasket. You might want to check this.

Another update. So the problem was identified as a bad gasket (sorry I don't know exactly which one it was). The problem now is I was told the part was ordered on August 16th and guess what? The parts are still not here. I was told this part is not on back order. Is it common for it to take this long to get parts? I have now been without my spyder for the entire month of August. Here in Montana we only have so much riding time before it's back to the garage for the winter. I love my spyder and enjoy the heck out of it. But I am slowly starting to regret the purchase.

Was it because of your dealer or was it because it took forever for the parts to show up? So far, my problem has been both.
