• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thanks for the responses to my earlier rain query. Several mentioned rear-tire spray comes up and gets sucked onto the back of helmet and jacket -- assume passenger would be the worst or possibly rider if solo. I'm talking a future RT here. Has anyone tried extending the rear "mudflap" down farther? It ends pretty high from the road. Either homemade or does anyone out there make them? Appreciate your thoughts if this is a problem and how you've dealt with it. Raingear obviously but would like to hear of anyone successfully minimizing the problem. Thanks
 
Purchase a truck mudflap from an auto store, cut to size, and secure it to the bottom of the existing fender. I fabricated my mud flap extension from a plastic wastepaper basket purchased at a department store. Cost me about $3.00. It has been on my RT for over one year and significantly reduced the backsplash issue. Drilled two small holes through the plastic fender and secured it with plastic bolts/nuts.

Rain spray was one of my first complaints when I purchased the RTS.

I wanted, but did not find, one of the Yosemite Sam lighted mudflaps like I had on my 84 Yamaha Venture. So I just let it go.

Now, I just have someone ride on the back seat. Works for me. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
 
I can't really add anything to this discussion but this is the first I've read about this problem. :hun: I'm just surprised that the RT has this problem with all that tupperware back there unlike my RS. I've never had such a problem and I've really been through some frog drowning storms this year. Sounds like a vendor product specific for the RT would be a real seller! :ohyea: You vender types reading this. :thumbup:
The RT problem is due to aerodynamics. Like a semi-trailer, you can't shove a brick through the air with creating backlash wind. The 2011 is improved in this department, but there is still a lot of crud sucked onto the back of the body.

Not saying Scotty is wrong (I would never say he's wrong) but after spending all day Monday on our way home through very heavy winds and rains, my passenger was no more wet or dirty than I was. We really didn't think it was bad at all despite the weather. The windshield was all the way down which increases noise and buffeting somewhat, but helps the mpg. I also have a 2010 with the wider wind blocks below the turn signals. Wonder if that made a difference?

I've never heard of this either.... hmmmm

Since I generally gear up if it's raining-- and run NO rear fender---- I really don't care if I get more water from the rear tire or not------ wet is wet.... the rain should clean you off anyhow.... :D

You get to clean the mud off the back of my Spyder next time...LOL. I suspect the main difference is that you are holding your mouth right, and I am not. :roflblack:
 
.. my wife also hates the dirty water - which runs in her neck .. met a swiss ryder with this solution - but I´m looking for something better looking..
