• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rain turned on the headlights

Got home from work yesterday and it started to rain. Left the Spyder parked outside for a quick wash by mother nature. My neighbor called me after an hour or so and told be my headlights were on. Pushed the momentary switch and the lights went out. A few minutes later he called back, yes the lights were back on. Pushed the spyder into the garage no more problems.
Obviously the rain was shorting out the switch, has anyone else had this problem? When I go in for the DPS change out I'll have dealer look at it.
For the time being I'm going to unplug and isolate the connections.
Don't want to ride to work, have it sit in the rain and drain the battery.
 
Had the same thing happen at Daytona this year . Trailered the :spyder2: down from Canada in some nasty weather and the lights came on . When we got back I started to loose the use of the 4 way flashers and then the light button for the trunk and then the starter button :gaah: One of the main connectors was badly corroded and had to be replaced.
 
I had a similar, yet opposite situation years ago on a Goldwing. Was caught in a pretty good rain at night and my head light went out! I had to stop and repeatedly work the Hi-Lo switch to finally get the light to work, then it was a long 100+ miles ride home with the switch constantly worked. I would say your switch is corroded. It is simple enough to take off the handle bars and clean it yourself if you want to.
 
I know your situation is a bother. I hope you get it permantly resolved ASAP. It reminded me of my 72 BMW R75/5, though. A few years ago, at Vintage Motorcycle Days, we got caught in the rain on a ride, and got soaked. After the show that followed, with the Slash 5 safely back at our campsite, my wife looked over while making dinner and asked if I had left the lights on. Of course, I hadn't. The goofy blade switch inside the headlight had gotten soaked, and turned on the lights and ignition. Took a lot of WD-40 to calm the old girl down. :roflblack:
