• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Baker Air Wings & ISCI Floorboard mini reviews

I had the Baker Air Wings installed at Spyderfest, and did the parking lot install of the ISCI floorboards during the trip.

Baker Air Wings: Finally got the chance to take an extended ride on the RT when the temperature was between 80 and 90 F. The air wings performed as advertised and definitely managed the air flow and heat reduction claims they make on their website. They are easy to adjust on the fly and I can see how I will appreciate this mod more during even hotter summer driving.

ISCI Floorboards: I found the stock pegs were just not working for me on longish trips. My hip joints would start to ache after a few hours and the old hockey knees put up the odd complaint as well. I removed the left side foot peg a few months back to try and simulate the optimum leg angle and foot position that I would require to get that "comfy" feeling. My crude tests told me that bringing the level of my foot down a bit and angling it forward would work best for me. This is what lead me to purchase the ISCI floorboards.

After installing the ISCI floorboards and playing a bit with the tilt of the floorboard I have found the optimum comfort zone for my riding style. I mounted the unit on the lowest height setting with the board angled a couple of notches downwards on the toe. I should mention that you need to raise your foot to apply the foot brake, but it did not take me long to become comfortable with this manoeuvre.

As you can probably tell, I am pleased with these products.:2thumbs:

I have the same issue with hips and have been looking at the floorboards as well. I have an RT SM5 and wonder about the shifter? Can the floorboards be lowered even with the shifter? I need to know? Thanks!

Installation time

The floorboard install will take you about 2 hours if you don't bother to remove any panels. (see below*)
Jack up your Spyder, remove the brake linkage, pull the stock foot pegs and install the right floorboard. The trickiest part is running your floorboard bolt through the brake lever. Those two washers are a tad tricky to line up. Unfortunately I did not have any grease with me down in Cuba to hold the washers in place during the install. The left side floorboard is a breeze.
If I had to do it all over again, in my garage, rather than a hotel parking lot, I could probably manage the job in a bit over 1 hour. Of course it would still take me an hour to adjust the boards to the right angle for my tastes.

Having a second set of hands really does help, but is not necessary.

*Always plan to take at least twice as long as you expected to take and you will be less frustrated.

I have just fitted these floorboards too. They look great and are very well made.
Do you find that your right floorboard is very slightly loose as you can't do up the bolt too tight or it will make the brake lever bind.

The right side floorboard should not be loose. I would remove the center bolt and make sure that the washers located on both side of the brake lever housing are seated properly. The same applies to the washer that goes over the end of the bolt that screws into the floorboard. I recommend that you remove the central bolt and inspect all three washers. You may have a bent washer that is causing you an issue. Just a thought.
Good luck.

Floor boards and Baker Air Wings

I attended the Wing-Ding with some friends in Knoxville July 6-9 and when I passed the Baker Exhibit booth I noticed a Spyder-RT parked next to the booth with Baker Wings. I learned that it belonged to the owner and his wife. Naturally I questioned the benefits. I then rode my Spyder into the convention center and within 15 minutes the wings were installed and I proceeded to ride the area and learned that the wings are a big benefit.

Before I left Florida headed to Knoxville I bought some floorboards from RLGeiger at <www.spyderrrt.embarqsspace.com> and they really afforded me a more comfortable ride to Tennessee. To install you simply remove the two screws in the existing footpegs and attach the floorboards with same screws. Time to install about 10-15 minutes. I also installed a heel-and- toe shifter from RL. Really easy to install. Wow, what a difference. RL's price is very good compared to other alternatives. CHECK IT OUT,along with some of his other add-ons for the Syder-RT, <www.spyderrrt.embarqsspace.com>. Also tell him I recommended him. I met him at the Daytona Bikefest.P7290002.jpg

With the Air wings installed, you have to unbolt the upper bar of the air wing assembly to remove the left panel to check your oil level. You have to do that before you turn your engine off so you have enough time to check it!:gaah:
