• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Something not on level!

I went on a 400 mile ride today to South Texas Suzuki's open house. (also the outstanding Can Am Dealer.) When I got home I heard a major banging from the rear of the bike. On inspection, I found a small box with a level built in, quite beat up hanging from a wire on top of the rear fender.

When I removed the fender, and liner, it seems it had been attached by two pop rivets and a piece of double sided tape which had failed.

What does this part do?

I have installed it back in its original position behind the left rear reflector.

Please advise!

Thanks

That's interesting to say the least. Is this on a RT or an RS? I have had the fender on my RS apart several times and never found anything like that. :dontknow:

Hi my Spyder is a RS - SE5.

This unit is approximately 2 x 2.5 inches .25 inch wide with a bubble level
In the top.

I wonder if somebody was using it to line up the rear fender or something during the set up, and forgot it was in there?

Is the wiring electrical or safety wiring? Sounds like a tool from either the dealer or maybe even the factory. Hard to say whose it may be, not sure where it would get used(by dealer or factory), but it sounds like sensor calibration tooling for maybe the roll or yaw, if the wiring was electrical.

As you can see in this photo I had the entire rear end of my Spyder disassembled at one time and I never remember seeing anything like that. :dontknow:

MY EYES!!! Spyder P0rn!!! :roflblack::ohyea: :roflblack::ohyea: :roflblack::ohyea:

:dontknow: I have a 2008 rs manual and all I have inside the rear fender is the wiring to the tailight running on the right side fender.I looked in the shop manual and could not find anything in there either.I would agree it is probably a service or set-up tool for the tech.Do you have any mods on your Spyder that this could be related to?

New or used spyder? Sounds like a sensor for an alarm system with anti-jacking ability. Other than this, I had nothing like that on my RS.

And with that answer, you have passed 4000 posts. Doc, I really think you need to get out and ride more instead of hanging out on the internet so much. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
Three reasons for not ryding:
1. Can't "stir the soup"
2. Can't prep my favorite triple expresso
3. In the airport taking a plane to BRP events

Did you buy the Spyder new??
It looks like it was at one time a motion detector for an alarm / pager.:dontknow:
