• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Excessive Complaining

:agree: I've had very few problems with my RT and I thank members such as Nancy's Toy and many others who have posted or answered posts about the problems and now have been solved - often with lots of humor! :roflblack: For example the "missing" right side grill, the moaning when going backwards, squealing brakes. Then there is "death grip" while ryding and the resulting difficulty with steering.

Thanks to all - the complainers and the problem solvers!! For every one that speaks up, there are probably others that quietly read the complaints and solutions and breathe a sigh of relief that they are not the only ones with a problem.

Happy Spydering!!!:spyder2:

The issues you bring up are minor problems. The ones that are upsetting a few :spyder2: owners are the problems that leave you stranded. Luckily the two times my Spyder went into Limp Home Mode I was only a few miles from home. Hopefully the cause for my Limp Home Mode has been corrected. It's been about 300 miles since the service tech recalibrated my steering angle sensor. Sometimes I think the fault detection software is these machines are a little too sensitive. Why would it through a code to put you in Limp Home Mode but after resetting the CPU all is well again. :dontknow: As far as I'm concerned it should only go into this protection mode if an actual serious problem exists. Don't get me wrong. I am very happy with my Spyder. It is by far the best open air ride I have ever owned. I just want to be able to eventually refer to it as "Ol Reliable".

If you are broke down you have a lot of time on your hands. What else is there to do but come here and detail your woes.

The only people here to listen are the few others who are also broke down and doing the same thing.

Everyone else is out riding! If they don't break down they may never visit here again! :roflblack:

I beleive there are as many or more Spyder owners on here at any given time with happy :spyder2: or broke down :spyder2: for whatever reason.
This is the best riders forum avail for information from dedicated Spyder owners on the Net to share info....Thank you..Lamont....:2thumbs:

I have a few complaints... The spyder is too much fun! And I hate how I always want to go out and ryde it. I hate all the attention I get on the spyder. I hate that I've found a lot of new restaurants to eat at while on my spyder and I might run out of $ to pay for my spyder. Sorry for the sarcasm! The spyder is too damn awesome that I go back to this forum when I'm not ryding, to let others know how awesome it is. I hate how addicting it is!

I agree that it does seem that major complaints have dropped off.
A complaint now, all the Mass. rain. I guess after reading about some of the other area weather I should consider ourselves lucky.

:agree:

I can't remember how many times I have read about a problem before I experienced it myself. With all the good support provided by the members here I knew what the issue was and how to get it resolved. No panic attacks, just do a search or go back to a saved posting and I'm good.

I think a lot of the complaining problem is how the compaint is presented. Does it sound like a rant and the wolrd is going to end? Or is it posted as a question about a problem someone incurred? The rants will sometimes get several poeple to jump on the band waggon while the question will get many suggestions and advice.

I do agree the rants have gone down once we got past the DPS recall.

I have to complain about the people complaining about all the complaining.

Everyone should be able to come here and complain all they like... and it's our job to say to them, "Yep! You're absolutely right, that does suck... How about we go for a ride and forget all about it." :doorag:

complaint versus praise

Maybe we need a complaint forum and praise forum? I wonder which would get the most viewing.

complaints

I think the complaints are a good thing. It's the best way of getting DD.

I feel like i'm ready for everything and anything once my spyder gets here. Will there be some disappointments, probably but it won't be like i didn't know its possible :cus: happens.

Some complaints here come from people who knew the nature of the beast from being here alot....well...It's a 2 year old machine, its high tech, when one issue goes away, another will probably pop up.

I'm not talking about loose battery cables etc...there is no excuse for shoddy workmanship....JMO of course.

I may be considered a "compainer and whiner", but that is not my intent. Some have had serious problems with their Spyders...ie, in the shop for weeks, quits on the highway for no reason, etc.

When I asked about my "right panel" missing, my dealer had left it off when they did my 600. As I get on the left side, I did not notice it and the dealer called and asked if my LEFT panel was missing. I went out to the barn, looked at the LEFT side and said No, it is here. I did not look on the right side. I rode twice, 200 miles, and did not pay any attention that is was missing...I then asked if it should have a panel...funny now, but not at the time....

I wrote that my Spyder electrionics are not up to my Gold Wing...this is a true statement...no whining here.

I have stated my concerns here, not complaints. I have legitimate concerns (to me) about the dependibility of my RT. I am pleased many of you have no concerns.

However, I have complained! The first time was in the Korean "police action", while helping refuel our plane at 15 below zero. A person who did not know me, kept shooting at us. I complained when this brave Army troop missed him with his first shot, but got him with the second!

I complained a few times while in Viet Nam (twice), but will not bore you with the details.

However, I did not whine...only complained....:ohyea:

I, as many, have learned a great deal on this site. I have lots of time to read and post here and the Gold Wing sites. My social security statement says I paid in to the system for 44 years before I retired. (twice, USAF and Sony Corp.)

Later, my friends, it is not too hot yet so I will now go ride a while....

If no one complained about problems or dislikes with the 2010 RT Spyder BRP wouldn't have made the improvements they had made to the 2011 RT. One complaint on the 2010 RT was the front suspension. Now for 2011 they have much improved shocks. There were several other improvements and I am sure the 2012 version will be even better because of customer complaints. :2thumbs: BRP should be happy with the customers that complain. At least they can aquire information to improve upon their product. The customers that are worse than the complainers are the ones that just walk away, say nothing and are never heard from again except maybe on a different motorcycle forum.

Big Red 1: I don't think that anyone on this forum would consider you to be a complainer. All your posts have been interesting and informative.

I have a complaint... Our love of the Spyder has killed my Honey-Do-List and my wife does not give a damn! It has made my once enjoyed BBQ time and yard work into "Have to's" and cut my monthly fuel costs in Half!

And worse of all! All our frustrations and luggage from the daily grind wipes away as each mile is ticking by, and our once proud tradition of MPG in fuel has turned to SPM (Smiles Per Mile).

How Dare you BRP!

:shemademe_smilie: :roflblack: :ohyea: :D :spyder2: :doorag:

Well said, Y Rider, well said. I know BRP reads these comments and acts accordingly. They have to learn from our comments, pro and con.

AK, I just try to say what I am thinking about a very interesting machine. I have found that others here have the same thoughts and comments as I do. I am amazed at the Spyder knowledge some of our learned posters have and give freely to we "young Spyders". I also try to keep my comments as light as possible....

We choose to ride a Spyder because we choose to ride a Spyder. None of these posts are too serious, not like an incurable stomach cancer...!!

Well... except for those of us who like to complain... :roflblack::ohyea:

Bob, I spent 29 years in the military so you can complain all you wish. I have been in countries where your complaints would not go unheeded....!

NOTE: I just returned from a one hour ride on the Interstate. I ran 50-85, good acceleration, ran up to 8,500 rpms for a short distance in 3rd. Crused at 70-75 for 50 miles. BR1 ran like a hose. (when I put her in the barn, I had to beat her with a stick to get her to shut down)

No sign of ANY "check" screens. :2thumbs:

NOTE NOTE! For you Spyder traverlers. Texas is talking about soon changing the IH10W Interstate west of Kerrville speed limit to 85 vs 80. For my Spyder friends, if you are going west out of K'ville and are new to this area, please stay in the right lane....the red necks say 80 is the minimum speed limit....not the max... :ohyea:
