• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Evaluations: Evoluzione Swaybar

where to buy sway bar

can you guys give me the web site to buy the sway bar, I would like to add this to the bike thanks.

Late getting in on this thread. I didn't post earlier because I have both the Evo Sway Bar and the RT 2011 shocks on mine. Did them both at the same time, so can't comment on one vs. the other alone.

The handling is a world of difference!! I ryde two up mostly. The two of us are a good weight together. (not telling) I am so happy I did these mods that words fail me. It's a completely different machine. I hated highway ryding before. Yes, my hand grip was light and I was relaxed! But, the Spyder seemed very unsteady anyway. I hated the feel. It was downright scary!! Avoided highways because how it felt.

Rode home via highway mostly coming home from the dealer getting these on the Spyder. I had a blast!!! Now I feel like I can go anywhere in any driving conditions!! It feels like so much more freedom!! I can't wait to get on my Spyder each and every time I ryde!!

Wish this awful chronic fatigue wasn't hitting me so hard. The rain hasn't helped ryding this year either. I'm going to have to eventually go out in bad weather because every good day we have mowing and yard maintenance. Nothing we can do about it. We live on a big property and could never afford to have the work done for us. A move in the future?? I just don't know yet.

Anyway, the two modifications together are awesome!!!!!!!!nojoke

Any downside from the sway bar?

What are the effects from swapping the RT shocks on to the RS? Smoother ride? or firmer more sportier ride?

Thanks!
James

The Spyder does come with a sway bar. The upgrade is an adjustable sway bar. Mine is set to the stiffest position and does decrease body roll. Installation involves removing the factory sway bar and bolting on the new one. This is one of the best upgrades you can do for improved handling.
I also added the sway bar but also increased the lenth of the mounting rod/eye bolts a extra 1 inch, what a hoot to ride now in the hills, but it doe's make it very solid on corners and bumps

ahh, i see. thanks!

I ordered the sway bar last night, still up in the air about the shocks.

Thanks for all the info!

I got the sway bar and shocks and I think The RT shocks did as much or more for me than the sway bar. Just me. I am happy with both.

Thanks all for your suggestions and advice. FYI, I ordered the Evo Swaybar from 'Extreme Sports Promoters' on eBay. It was $230, no tax and free shipping. It was the same $ on Evo's website, but they charged shipping and tax.

Also, as someone suggested, I will just crank up the stiffness on the stock shocks for now, and replace them with something better when they get closer to wearing out. Can anyone suggest a link or thread that discusses how to adjust the shocks? I did some searching but 'still haven't found what I'm looking for'.

Cheers!

The shock preload adjuster on stock shock has has 5 settings that is what shock adjuster tool in tool kit is for and directions are in your Spyder manual...

Freebob... :doorag:

Ahhh... well that was relatively easy: provided you jack it up just a little to take some tension off the spring (which the manual doesn't mention). Tried it first w/o jacking and laid into it with all my weight until the tool slipped and I lost some serious skin on my knuckles.

They do recommend jacking to adjust the rear shock. Are there appreciable handling benefits from adjusting it, if I never ride with a passenger? Or should I just leave it?

Well I put the EVO sway bar on my 09 SE5 with shocks at #5. 210 pound rider only.
1- Worth the $$$
2- Helps a lot in hard country corners and I was able to go about 10 MPH faster in my commom corners without half the lean imput as before!
3- Great for Long s shape (on and off) highway ramps as you stay planted at a faster speed all the way through!
4- Darting from side to side on roads (Where no ones going to report me) was a LOT easier at 45-50 MPH and you never know when you may need to dart this way or that to escape a texter!
5- Shocks will come next spring when I reach about 20,000 miles and the Spyders paid off.
Note- When the sway bar is on the bulge bumps the trunk and I had to replace the 1/2 Inch stock 10mm bottom trunk bolts with 2 10mm 1 inch bolts I had from taking off the oil access black plastic panel? Your story may be different?:yikes:

Anti sway bar is THE best mod for spyder as far as handling characteristics goes if not overall. Yes I felt "did I pay $230 plus shipping for this piece of metal?" when I first got it but once I installed it , it was a new world.

This is one mod you are not going to be dissapointed with.

Will it help with crosswinds on the highway? Every now and then when I'm taking a curve in crosswinds it feels like the spyder is drifting.
