I've had my Spyder for almost three years now... I too haven't used water to wash my spyder. If fact it only been rained on twice since I've owned it. LOL..... I use microfiber towels Original Bike Spirits Spray Cleaner and Polish its in a spray can and I spray and wipe off and some cases polish off pending how many bugs I've hit. The main trick is the Micro Fiber Towel If you spray down and wipe off after or before each ride it takes about twenty to thirty minutes to keep clean. The hardest part is the Frickin' rear wheel which I don't do all the time but when I do takes long long time for whatever reason is. Saw a tool for cleaning wheels in Daytona bike week and wish had gotten it!

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've read here that it is best to wet the spyder down first (whether with a hose or squeezing a sponge) to get rid of any loose dirt, otherwise you can scratch the plastic.
You mention: "I immediately use a quick detailer and always a FRESH microfiber." Is this the step you use to replace the spraying on of water?
I ask b/c there are times when I use the two bucket method b/c I don't have access to a hose and faucet.

I never spray it down or use water...just don't see the need...sure, I've been in several rain storms, but I don't see a need for washing the bike...
I use Bodine's Waxing Frenzy products...they rock and will protect your paint better than any other product...okay, don't believe me? Read about the carnuba quality they use compared to other products. Also, the quick spray detailer does a good job of cleaning and coating...
I haven't really had an issue with lots of debris or dirt coating my bike as it is garage kept...if it gets dirty while I'm riding, the spray detailer works fine...never scratches the plastic either...

Yeah, you do have to rinse it off, but it's cheap and convenient. I've used all sorts of bug removal products on my vehicles, and the fabric softener sheet beats them all. Of course, I've yet to use a quick detailer product, so I don't know if they are better.

I know that dryer sheets help ward off bugs when you golf, too...never tried them on a bike though...

- Take it to a manual car wash. Exercise caution with the high pressure stream.
- 'Honda' polish
- Lemon Pledge. Hand pump please, save the ozone layer
- Mothers/MaGuires spray n wipe cleaner
- Just ride it. If God thinks it needs washing, it'll rain on you.
Honda sparay polish. It cleans and leaves a residue that looks shiny and helps keep the next layer of dirt from sticking.
It really doesn't take much to clean the whole Spyder.
Just don't use this stuff on the seat.

Original Shine is the product that was formerly labeled as Honda Shine. Same stuff, they just dropped the Honda name on it.
Everyone that has used this product swears by it.

I agree with Murlaw's approach, but he makes it too complicated. I use 303 Protectant on everything regulalrly and use it as a detailer and it works like a champ. It's great on the plastic body, anything rubber, and protects all materials from UV deterioration. Regular use of 303 also cuts down on the amount of dust that sticks to the body. Then, every morning I give the Spyder a quick going over with a California Duster and that's it. No wash or wax or anything else.
