• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A tad nervous

I have been reading these forums for a bit now...I have a spyder on order...but I see a lot of things that make me a bit nervous. Do they fall apart that easy??? Seems like a lot of things go wrong. I am wondering if they are too delicate for me...LOL...just insecure.

Just like fancy new cars... they have to get the very minor bugs out - But it will be your dream once you have it!

I can understand why you feel this... Try to remember that you hear the most griping from the relatively few folks who end up with a problem... The rest fo us are simply too busy ryding to be typing!

So which one did you order???:D

No worries. My dodge truck had more issues the first couple of years I owned it than my spyder has had.

Problem is two fold... Spyders are toys to many, and when you can't play with your toy, you get sad, then mad.

..Or.... The Spyder is your primary transportation in which case, a string of issues can be annoying.

Lastly, when you are planning a big trip, and your spyder goes down, you just can't go out and ride another spyder and have the same vacation... all that planning goes down the drain.

So... The vast majority of owners see very little issues with their spyders... Remember that on the internet you are going to hear about every nuance issue... Just remember that to help keep things in perspective.

Just think of the BMW rear drive problems, or the K12LT hydraulic center stand, that cost $1195 + installation (each) and I had 3 replaced (under warranty).

Kinda puts it in perspective….

Most of the issues people have had were with earlier models and have been corrected. Most have not had many issues with their Spyders--- it's just that those that have had them seem to stick out on forums like this.

People are much more apt to post about something that is WRONG than when everything is GREAT.

Since you're getting a 2011 --- you have nothing to worry about-- besides you have 2 year factory warranty which you can extend to 5 years through the BRP BEST warranty-- which I HIGHLY recommend doing.

These bikes are anything BUT delicate--- Seth, Doc, Myself and many others beat the hell outta these bikes.....

I read these posts and at times I get nervous. To be truthfull I've never had a problem with my RT or the RS with the exception of the DPS recall and a leaking rear shock. These are minor things considering the complexity of these machines. These are still cutting edge technology and sure there will be minor problems for some of them but I look at the bigger picture and see all of those that have few or no problems. As long as you find a good dealer and learn the difference in riding these machines over a typical bike or trike I feel like you'll have one of the most enjoyable riding experiences possible. These are fun machines.

I have a black RTse5 ordered and getting the full extended warranty...and asking if they have a maintenance plan.....trying to cover all bases LOL

:welcome:Get it and enjoy if a person posts a problem that means they are having a problem, does not mean you will. Get it ride it enjoy it

:welcome: :agree:with the above. Some posts do indeed stick out--however IMO--I think the rants and raves have been diminishing over the last few months.

Most people have driven :spyder2: without a lot of problems.

I have had 3 :spyder2: since they came out. 2008 Manual, 2009 SemiAuto, and 2010 RTS Premier. Over 55,000 combined miles and no major mechanical issues up to this point. Minor glitches--yes.

How much does the warranty run?

Ahh, the Information Age. Every little problem get plastered across the Internet as soon as it happens, making it look like the sky is falling. In reality, the problems are relatively few, and the successes are the vast majority. In the old days we would not have known (or none of us would have bought British bikes), so we would have been content. Now we get scared over every divot reported. Sorry, I am an optimist. I would sell my computer so I didn't have to read these things, before I would selll my Spyder.

Dear Tad,

If you live close to a Spyder agency and repair shop why I say: "go for it". After you get the seat issure and the heating of your feet solved you can have a lot of fun on your Spyder.

I don't have the slightest idea what you are talking about. I have owned new Cadillacs, Mercedes Benz, and Chrysler products and once a battery went out after 3 days of use. So your story is without base. It makes me wonder if you ever owned a new car.
