Just traded in my BMW K1200LT ( Light Truck-LOL) last week and picked up my 2011 RT-S in San Diego at Escondido Cycle Center. They were excellent to work with and Herm in Service really knows his stuff. In San Fran. now after 700 miles in 5 days. Looking at getting the Trailer. Anyone that has one have any comments? Also looking for a bigger windsheild possibly. Love the RT. :2thumbs: Way fun and don't have to put my feet down and hold the BMW beast up anymore. Thanks for any suggestions.

:welcome: I understand your motivation. I always wanted a BMW K1200LT, but there was no way these old legs would want to support one...especially with a passenger. When the Spyder RT came out, it was the perfect solution. It still reminds me more of the LT than the Wing.

Dropped it 3 times sitting still. LOL Am 68 and loved it for 2 years living in Colorado in the Mtns. and on long trips but go soooooooooooooo tired of the Weight Managament part. Was going to trade it in for a BMW R1200RT last week but decided to skip that step and go straight for the Spyder. Love it.

:welcome:
I had about 50,000 miles on my Bushtec trailer and I loved it but I had more trailers than room around here so I sold the Bushtec and now all I have is the 622 and I love it. They had some issues with water running off the lid and into the trailer when you opened them but they have fixed that now. They've also done a better job with the carpet than the first ones that were produced. It's a great trailer and goes great with the RT.

This is the windshield I have

I went with the 3" shorter and the 5" wider. I'm 5' 10 and I like looking over my shield.

Thanks Doc. Am looking for a different Windsheild and a cup holder. Will probably go with the 622 Trailer from the feed back I am getting. :2thumbs:

From San Diego to Frisco is a great first ride, don't forget about the 600 mile service where they change that 1st oil.

The windshield I have on my 2010 RT is taller than the 2011's I love mine, but many complained that they wanted more air so BRP
makes them in different sizes (should be in the parts catalog )along with ESI.

I got my trailer after seeing if I was gonna take it on longer trips and i am, so it has been very useful. I just added the trailer tongue
stand and the cargo net system kit, along with cargo load stabilizers to secure the REDA gas cans from moving around. The Spare wheel
tire bag clips down to the cargo net system and won't budge! Still waiting for my water management kit to arrive at the dealership.

Also learned I can't be in the carpool lane when I am towing, It was nice that the CHP just verbally warned me.

Wouldn't want another ticket.

What color bike did you end up getting?

Great Info. Thanks. Got the Magnesium. LOve it. They said I could wait till I got back to SD next week to change the oil even though I am 625 now and it will be closer to 1000 by the time I get back there next week. Tried to come up Hwy. 1 but could only go so far as it is closed in places. But went south from Carmel also for 12 miles. Rode down #1 yesterday from SF to Santa Cruz. Will go back to SD to get all of the extra Led lights I ordered for the Brakes and turn and Light bar on the back trunk. Also will be putting on the Trailer Hitch but have to find a Mag. colored trailer. Dealer is trying to find me one. The will head back through PHX. and then home to the Ranch in Colo.

My dealer told me that BRP had a promotion going on during the month of April that if you purchased a RT-622 trailer you would get $400 in accessories. My dealer also told me if I didn't want the accessories that I could take an additional $300 off the price of the trailer. I went with accessories and got a smoked chrome spare tire, cover, interior light (not worth the price), wheel tire bag and trailer tongue stand.

:welcome: and :congrats:. The magnesium is a really nice color. I have the RT622 trailer and love it. The water management kit is the fix they had for 2010 trailers to direct water away from the interior. The 2011 would already have this fix in place. You may want to post on the For Sale/Trade forum that you are looking for the taller windshield. I think you may find someone with a 2010 taller wider windshield that would want to trade you for the shorter narrower 2011 windshield.

I keep reading about this $400 thing when you purchase the RT-622 and mentioned it to my salesman and he could not find anything about it. :dontknow:
