Motorcycle boots suggestions

I am looking for a Size 11 boot that is waterproof, just above the ankle, or 9" high. I have a pair of Icons that was given as a gift and they are a size 11, but are too tight width wise. Also, they are lace up and consequently not water proof. When I rode in the torrential downpour to SitS in 2009 I was squishin in my boots by the time I got to Gatlinburg.:(

I've seen (online) a pair of Alpinestars Harlem waterproof boots on EBay, but can't tell if they have decent width. I'm most comfortable w/ an E or EE, but never see anything listed that way. Can anyone here recommend a good waterproof boot that has a little width to it?:helpsmilie:

I've wondered if there's such a thing as a gater-type cover that might be used to go over your regular boot. (maybe enclosed over the toe?)

Hey . . . . I just pulled out a pair of Neos overshoes from when I used to live in deep snow country. They fit securely over my regular walking shoes. I wonder if something like that might work?

check out the Villagers, no cleats or deep lugs....

I have seen some overshoe type things, but I'd like to keep extra stuff to a minimum for cross country rydes. I guess they prolly don't take up a lot of room, but when you start adding up the things that don't take up a lotta room.....they start to take up room! I was planning on just taking riding boots and a pair of sneaks for my journey

Thanks HDX,
I might just go w/ the Gaitors...I still have a lot of tread on the Icons...
...but would really like a wider boot for comfort.
I wish there was a store nearby for me to try some on for myself, but not much pickings in these here neck of the woods...:sour:

Never been able to wear boots on the Spyder--- the extra thickness just doesn't work well with the relative short distance from the footpeg to the shifter. Every time I've tried them, my foot would have to be at an extreme downward angle to fit under the shift lever. I'm sure I could make them work by raising the shift lever angle a few degrees, but then would have a problem if going back to riding in shoes...... so I just stick with a pair of good shoes.

My husband and i both have these TCX boots and love them. We have ridden through some real gulley washers and have never had a wet sock. They are very comfortable and are not at all bulky. I have a pair of Tourmasters that I hate and like Firefly said they got in the way shifting and braking.

I can easily wear the TCX all day riding and walking or just standing and I'm comfortable. I bought mine at the local BMW dealer.

If you go by a HD shop look in there rain gear section they have a shoe or boot cover that works great, It just slips over your shoe or boots it keeps my feet nice and dry here in florida even in a down pour. cj :2thumbs:

5-11s

Check out police tactical 5-11s. Very comfortable and they zip up the side. You can get them at any police supply store.

I don't need to worry about shifting as I'm ryding an SE5.

I appreciate everyone's input tho!

Army navy store has boots wook great and cheeper:2thumbs:

I had a pair of Icon boots as well. I go tired to lacing them up plus they weren't completely waterproof. So, after some investigation I bought a pair of Vandramini Wind boots. http://www.motoworldonline.com/Vendramini-Wind-Boots_p_1101.html
I've worn them a couple of times including yesterday when we got caught in a deluge. My feet stayed perferctly dry. They are easy on and off and very comfortable. I haven't worn in high temperature yet so I can't comment on that.

Good Boots at Very Good Prices!

MusicArcade,

Whatever type of boot you decide on please check out the wide selections and great low prices at http://www.leatherup.com

I priced a pair of boots at a Harley shop and they want almost $200.00 for them. Found the same pair at leatherup for $79.95. Same thing with my and my wife's jackets. normally would cost in the $200. range, and got them for only $79. at the same place. My boots never give me the "wet foot".

I have no affiliation with this company, I'm just a satisfied customer.

My wife has very wide, short feet, with a high insole, and she fit best in the Tourmaster WP boots. They are apparently discontinued, but may still be available online. Not sure if the men's sizes run wide, too. They are waterproof and comfortable. My Bates Leathers custom boots are not waterproof, but they are made to a tracing and measurements of your foot, so they fit right, even on my skinny feet and chicken-leg calves. They will do the same on a wide foot. Reasonably priced for custom boots, too, and available in a variety of styles.

I know exactly what you mean, as I have not found a pair of actual riding boots that fit me well yet either. There are a couple shops in Augusta, and some vendors at the flea market there, where you can at least see some boots and try them on if they have your size. I know Felix Leathers on Peach Orchard Road basically sells their stuff for the same prices you find on the internet. It may be worth checking out sometime soon.

This is the boots I have been wearing for 2 years. Bought them for our trip in 2009. Rode in over 200 miles of rain in Nova Scotia and my feet stayed dry. The sides work great to get air to you feet but will not let water in. Also, in the winter my feet do not get cold. Don't know why, they just don't. I would definitely buy another pair if these ever wear out and the model is still available.

I like the SIDI waterproof boots. They have side zippers. One trick for tight boots--especially before they get broke in--shake some talcum powder on your socks before putting the boot on---your feet will slide right in. Use a boot jact for easy removal--about 15.00 at any western store.

Not sure if I can add anything to this really. Just some personal stuff it seems.

I love all my SIDI's as long as I try them on and walk in them for about 5 minutes. Once I find a pair I wear them till they can no longer put new soles on them.

Last year I purchased the most comfortable, 100% dry in any weather I have worn them in, HD Boots...

Men's FXRG®-3 Boots

They have laces for the perfect fit, and then a side zipper for removing your foot or putting them on.

These are the first boots that I have ever owned that are actually water proof AND do not make my feet sweat in the high temps. These are the first boots I have ever purchased, that I DID NOT have to add padding or support to :ohyea::thumbup:. These are by far my favorite boots ever.

These are what I have. Love them! I have problems with my feet so need to put and additional insole in them for support. You can find these discounted on many sites now. I think they weren't that popular for some reason. Anyway, they are a nice boot.

Not sure if you found Boots, but mine are by a Co. called RedHead. Cant remember if they are waterproof but I believe so.
They are for hunting I think. Got them at the Silverton lodge "Bass store" in Las Vegas. they did come in widths. I like them
so much as they are 10 1/2 inches high and block the heat out of the right side vent for me. They have insulated lining as well.

These are extremely comfortable for me to wear and walk in all day.:ohyea:

S.W.A.T. Boots

Tried on a pair of SWAT boots at a motorcycle show up in Toronto a few weeks back. They were, by far, the most comfortable boot that I have ever tried on. Unfortunately, they were out of my size at the show or I would have purchased them right there and then. The next day I searched on line and found out that they sell for approximately 1/2 the price in the U.S. so I hope to purchase a pair when I return from Spyderfest. Note: They fit on the small size, so I will order a 1/2 size larger boot than I normally wear.
