• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lighting...

Did you check the headlight adjustment with a rider in the seat? If not, and you didn't throw a sandbad on there, you may need to adjust them a little lower, to compensate.

No I did not. I was thinking about adjusting them down just a tick anyway, but you have made a very good point Scotty! Thank you.

I am running 55 watt 6,000K HID headlights and 35 watt 3,000K HID foglights on my Spyder. The install was a little tricky, mainly due to the bracket BRP used to hold the stock headlight bulbs in place, but nothing you couldn't handle.

Here is a picture and a video to show you the difference.

In the picture I do not have all of my extra LED lights turned on. Those are just the ones that come on when I fire up the Spyder. :D I still need to get a picture of how the front end looks with all of the lighting on.

In the video clip you should have been able to see the huge difference the 3,000K fog lights made when I turned them on. You can actually see the horizontal line they cut right across the bottom of the headlight beams.

I must admit there have been a couple of times when I had my signal on waiting to turn left on a 2 lane road, and the oncoming car almost came to a complete stop as it went by. I figure they were trying to figure out what the heck had lights like that. :D

Also, I bought both sets of the HID lights, with slim ballasts, shipped to the house for $125. Of course, your mileage may vary.

WOW Wolf looks good  Purchased HID headlight kit last night. Can not wait to see them at night will be awesome looking for sure. :ohyea:

Best of luck with your install. They were well worth the investment, and installation time, in my opinion.

Yeah, I got the email to day also. I'm not sure you need many more lumens; Mine are really bright on high. I have the 3 mode version and after the install yesterday I made the mistake of checking out the high setting. :yikes: I still have spots in my eyes.
I do think a tighter beam would be nice. You definitely need a dimmer.

DOCDORU

Doc back in February you mentioned Clearwater Lights. I talked with the local supplier at the Boston Bike Show. He gave me a demonstration of them. The Glenda is more than adequate. I have ordered them for my RT. They should be in anytime now. He told me they would be installed before Spyderfest. They do come with a dimmer switch. You can't look into them because they blind you. My grandson (9) found out the hard way. You know how kids don't like to listen. I'll keep you informed if you like.

Vision-X Solstice Solo Prime LEDs & Kewl-Metal mounts

(revised & moved from earlier post)

Just recently got these installed and started testing. The mounts are made by Kewl-Metal special to fit the Spyder fender struts. They enable mounting small driving lights on the fender struts to have them always directional with the front wheels, instead of just pointing straight ahead. These mounts are not cheap, but they are a real jewel, rock solid, and easy to install & adjust. The mfg description is: http://www.kewlmetalstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=5&products_id=101

The lights I used are Vision-X Solstice Solo Prime new generation LEDs with 10 watt led, but 860 Lumens of light output ea. they have 40-degree beam and draw only .83amps ea. They are fully weatherproof, shockproof, and have a sturdy die-cast aluminum housing. Several vendors carry these lights, as well as Amazon.com. They cost more than cheapie led lights, but less than the top-end lights. The mfg info is: http://www.filthymotorsports.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=FM-VISXSOLOP

Initial tests of the lights look very good and the directional mounting feature is a super advantage at night in the curves. They enhance the HID low-beam light coverage and reach out more to the sides as well, but they help most when you start into a curve. They are also available in a 20-degree version which gives less light on the sides but may reach out longer. A dimmer is also available for these lights.

Ron I have NMN's HID head and fog conversions, I couldn't be more pleased. Looks all stock but the light is :yikes: awesome way better than stock in fact no comparison to stock. I do like some of these A-arm lights people are using, my only worry is with our projection style light we already have, they flicker in certain conditions in a car's rear view mirror.. The result is cars pull off to the side thinking some sort of emergency vehicle is approaching them. I've touched on this subject some time ago and since did testing with a vehicle in front of me and if you come up on a car at night with 1/4 mile or more visibility behind them and you have 10 or more MPH on them our lights do appear to strobe in their mirrors. Then they pull over, and make me feel like a ass. My only point for my rambling is A-Arm mounted lights IMHO would cause more confusion in a up-coming cars mirror. We already look alien on the road at night which is cool but when people start pulling over for us we may well get deported to Area 51. :roflblack::roflblack:
Or if you don't speed and approach cars in front of you, this may never be a problem.:dontknow::dontknow:

Hope it helps
Jim:thumbup:
