Low Oil/Limp Mode

Went out to ride this morning and after traveling less than 1/10 mile, Low Oil Warning light came on and Spyder went into limp mode. I just had my 6000 mile service done less than 100 miles ago. I followed manual directions for checking oil and level seems to be way over full. I can limp to my dealer tomorrow but it is 70 miles and I don't want to cause other problems, just in case the engine is not getting lubrication. A possible solution

I changed my oil, transmission and engine filters last week. Bolted her up and ran into the same situation as you. P0524 LIMP mode!

Started it up again, revved the engine at 3-4K rpms for 10-15 seconds and everything reset itself.

Give it a try and see if that works for you. I got this tip off of the forum and was very pleasantly surprised when it worked.:clap:

Thanks for reply. Tried it and it went off limp for a few seconds and went back into limp mode. Tried several more times but no luck. If the error means low oil level as opposed to low pressure I should be able to limp to the dealer tomorrow.

P0524 is low oil pressure, not low level. Because it did not happen immediately after the oil change, it is worrisome. Could be a collapsed oil filter or some other actual cause. About the only way you have to tell if it is actual low pressure, rather than a switch failure, is to do some testing and listen to the engine. Personally, I would not risk it, with the recurring fault. You might call your dealer, though, and ask his opinion. If he says to ride it in, the burden of a blown engine would be on his shoulders. If you have BEST, you can have road service tow you in...even if you have to push it out into the street for them to cover it.

I had the same problem last spring. The dealer told me that BRP had a problem with the oil pressure sensor and replaced it. No problems since.

Thanks to everyone with their experiences and help. Dealer picked up my:spyder2: this morning, called this afternoon to tell me it was a cracked Oil Pressure Sensor. Should be back on the road in 4 or 5 days.:yes::yes:

My spyder is in shop now with oil presure sensor problem they told me it is getting regular mechanic told me.
