• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dead Spyder

My spyder is not starting. Battery was near dead so I replaced it with an odyssey but it's still not starting. Last night I pulled the plugs to see they were a bit black and fouled. They do not spark when I fire them so I think I have the problem id'ed. I'll have new plugs to try in the next few days but is there anything else I should be looking at?

It does crank but just doesn't start. Any advice appreciated!

You got to have spark to fire. When was the last time to rode it? Have you done any mods lately like HID's?

No new mods but I checked all of the wiring connections since I have almost every esi light mod and an alarm installed- everything checks out and no error codes.

I last rode a few weekends ago and it stalled at a light but I wrote that off as me not coming off the clutch well.

I think it's just the plugs- I have a juice box, hindle, air filter from kewlmetal and o2 sensor mod so I am probably running rich and possibly blowing oil into the system to foul things up.

If your plugs are fouled sometimes you won't see a spark.
When you get new plugs check for a spark. I've had fouled plugs [many times on snowmobiles/ATVs] that wouldn't show a spark then when i put in new plugs the machines would start right up.
Your battery was weak and you loaded them up.

I installed new plugs and am getting spark but it still won't start. I think it's a fuel issue. Last thing I did before the issue was fill the tank. Today I will drain the tank, check the filter etc. Any advice?

You mentioned you have an alarm system. Does it have a anti-highjack system that could keep the Spyder from starting? If so don't rule that out.

Alarm does not have the anti-hijack installed.

Interested in exploring options from Lamont's thread. Situation sounds the same.

Definite fuel problem- bad gas. Any advice on emptying the tank of the crap in it so I can refill it with good gas?

Back running after a tank siphon and rough run to burn through what bad gas was left. After the siphon I put in about a half gallon and let it run in the driveway. It sputtered through and backfired until I gave it a full tank. Ran about 100 miles after that without a hiccup.

Lots of lessons learned with this experience- keep the battery charged, check plugs and avoid bad gas.
